Not much happening this week on the decorating front at Casa Jo. Our organic vege garden is starting to reward us for all the hard work (not really, it’s only organic because we do nothing to look after it except hand water it) but that doesn’t leave me with any “projects round the house” pictures. I have however added 2 new hand watercoloured prints to my etsy store. I call them snippets of suzani. I’m experimenting with patterns as part of a larger piece for my living room wall and these are a very casual interpretation of traditional suzani pieces. (And yes I know that suzanis are so passé but I like ethnic textiles and refuse to give up what I like because design “taste makers” skittishly pounce on the next big thing.)
WINKS – weekend links. Here we list what has come in during the week, things we’ve found and things we think you’ll want to see. If you’d like to see your blog or website featured email us and if we think it fits with our readers we’ll link you. So what’s in this week?
A couple weeks ago Jo posted her fabulous peahen chair she found at her favourite thrift shop. She mentionned that she was on the hunt for a peacock chair. And since seeing the peacock chair in Wary Meyers pad (who are my idols btw), I’ve been dreaming of having one of my own. So here are my 4 steps to finding a peacock chair.
1 – check craigslist on a daily basis and pray that one day a peacock chair will magically appear.
2 – almost drop dead from shock when an ad for “wicker chair – $20” appears on craigslist and IT TURNS OUT IT’S A PEACOCK CHAIR.
3 – scramble to organize borrowing your parents SUV and contact the seller to arrange a pickup (and seller tells you someone has already been in contact about it and would pick it up Sunday but if you can get there before that, it’s yours). Tell him no problem, and you’ll give him $30 for it too!
4 – Pick up chair (get extra bonus of meeting seller’s albino Great Dane) and thank your father 6 times for driving you across town in traffic to get it.
Many of the spaces featured in Russian magazine Salon Interior are a bit too over the top for my taste, but I did find some photos that are a little more streamlined and modern, young and fresh. And just lovely – like Louis Ghost armchairs with a brick wall for a backdrop. YEAH!!
I can’t get enough of white interiors at the moment. White and full of vintage finds and fabrics. Loving this house in London with it’s great boho vibe. Another great location house from Shootspaces.
