What to do with a dorm room

Grant emailed with a link to a video of Trading Spaces’ Genevieve Gorder with tips on how to decorate a dorm room. Since it’s back to school time and she’s got some really great ideas, I thought this was worthy of an extra Monday post.

what’s with all the windows product placement?

I just sent a niece off to college (Toledo University) and we used these bed frame risers to give her more under bed storage. http://www.rangekleen.com/underbed-storage-bed-lifters.php

I know there are a lot of different brands around but you can easily find these at Target, Wal-Mart, or other big box stores, in case your roommates want some also.

Okay, some of the stuff she says makes sense other stuff… not so much. In the beginning it sounds like she’s trying to sell me a big desktop and digital picture frame. Why in the world does a college student need a desktop AND a laptop? They don’t. Also I think some of the wall treatments, while a good idea, seem like an excessive amount of work. Why not just use posters and such to decorate rather than spend all that time? The rest of the stuff: lighting, beds, and rugs does seem to make sense.
