New work from Buckingham Interiors

Posted on Tue, 5 Aug 2008 by midcenturyjo

Julia Buckingham Edelmann isn’t only a talented interior designer, she’s absolutely lovely. Julia emailed to thank us for featuring her work last week. She was particularly taken that DTI readers from 25 countries dropped by her website to admire her portfolio. It’s amazing the reach of the internet isn’t Julia? Kim and I still get goose bumps when we realise that all of you come from far flung corners of the world. Best of all Julia let me know that she has a new project just up on her website. It’s a rooftop greenhouse project that she and her team turned into office spaces. Love the fun quirky touches! Thanks Julia!

Break

Posted on Mon, 4 Aug 2008 by KiM

This is the last day of my 4 day weekend and I’ve got a ton of stuff to get done around the house. (I almost said that it’s finally a nice day out, but then turned around to find dark clouds and sprinkling rain. UGH!!!) So I’m taking a blog break today. I leave you with the following photo from Marie Claire Maison, because I have recently become totally smitten with Moroccan/Indian decor.

William Abranowicz

Favourite of the shelter magazines William Abranowicz is also held in high esteem in art photography circles. His work hangs in collections around the world and he’s taught at the Parson’s School. I know I know we all think a great photo of a fab room is high art but you should really jump on over to William’s website to see his amazing personal work. (These photos in the meantime are from his rep’s site.) Whether editorial or art his portfolio is stunning. I was lost for what seemed hours in his inspiring work.

Retro time!

More retro inspiration to start your week. I’m really enjoying House & Garden Guide to Interior Decorating, The Conde Nast Publications London, 1967. So much is so right now – and so much is so not! Yes that is 3D bacon and eggs on the wall.

Flickr finds – stairs

Posted on Sun, 3 Aug 2008 by KiM

This is a 4 day weekend for my boyfriend and I, so I roped him into helping me redo my staircase. I’m refacing the existing totally gross stairs with new wood treads and risers that I bought unfinished, and I’m painting them white. Smart me, I’m painting them BEFORE we attach them because OMG, what would I do with 6 cats and a wet staircase. So hopefully this week or next weekend I’ll have a finished product to show you. In the meantime, here’s a before photo, and some other stairs I found on Flickr to get me in the mood to go give them a second coat.
