Michael Richman

Posted on Wed, 12 Nov 2008 by midcenturyjo

Elegant and sophisticated, timeless and unique. Chicago designer Michael Richman creates rooms that reflect their owner’s style and then shifts it up a notch with impeccable craftsmanship and attention to detail. These are beautiful rooms with a modern take that references the best of the past.

Talk about strange coincidences. I had this post on Michael ready to publish this week when an email pops into my inbox introducing his latest venture R Studio, developed to fill the gap between exclusive high end residential interior design and retail store offerings. Great idea and cool site. Check it out while your lusting after Michael’s high end work.

Trine Thorsen

Love it when you recheck a website that gave you such pleasure the first time round only to find even more fabulousness. Kim spotlighted the stunning portfolio of Trine Thorsen at the beginning of the year. Gorgeous work! But wait there’s more. Yes this über talented Norwegian photographer has updated her site and her shots take my breath away. You know the mantra – lighting, composition, crop – but it’s true these photos are beautiful. Go check the website again and reintroduce yourself to Trine’s work.

I remembered

It seems Jo and I have offended some readers by not posting something today about it being Remembrance Day. Frankly, I am offended that I would have to post something to remind people about the purpose of this day. I did not forget. This morning, I watched the proceedings at the war memorial and shed a few tears remembering my grandfather who was a war veteran, and who passed away several years ago. NO, I did not forget.

Industrial loft

I love this industrial loft featured on Beach Studios for location shoots. It’s located in London in a converted industrial building and owned by a highly acclaimed furniture and interior designer. Amazing steel sliding doors and polished concrete floors. I’d maybe throw down a few kilims to warm the place up but other than that, it’s got great bones.

mimou is a company with retailers in Sweden and Norway that carries accessories for the home (bedlinens, cushions, table linens, wallpaper, fabric) along with accessories to wear (necklaces, bags and shawls). They have a set of inspiration photos on their website that are so beautifully styled I had to feature some of favourites.
