Outdoor favourites

Posted on Sat, 3 Jan 2009 by midcenturyjo

I’ve gone through my files and found my favourite “outdoor rooms” for 2008. I love living outside as much as possible and if I had spaces as stylish as these I doubt I’d want to come back inside. Whether a chair pulled up casually in a favourite garden corner, a private place on a veranda or an architect’s dream melding outside with in there is inspiration a plenty.

Lovely! I just can’t wait until the spring comes to cold Sweden!!

I adore the William Hefner one. I’ve always dreamt of having an outdoor fireplace.

You picked a great day to post this – it snowed here all day yesterday and today it’s FREEZING. I needed a little warmth, even if it’s through some photos.

I am dreaming of sitting outside in one of those pretty spaces, just looking up and letting the sun rest on my face…….mmmmmmmmm Okay, it is hard to type with my eyes closed and I need to go see some more pretty pictures so I can avoid my own windows and the freezing rain happening around me. Happy day!

I love these images, particularly the open outdoor fireplace…how lovely would that be? I love the wicker settings too…actually i love bits and pieces of all of them. Makes me want to go out and revamp/redecorate my decks – in fact you have got me going i am off to do it now! Mel xxx
p.s here is a link to a blog i did of my fave deck photos..

Great pics! I am inspired. I live in Fl. and even though it is beautiful here the a/c can be addicting when it is a scorcher outside.

Great collection of cool outdoor living spaces. I’m with you, much prefer to be outside, especially nice in these settings – thanks for the inspiration!

wow! I like secret gardens, magni design, and eric staudenmaier

Thankyou for the new year inspiration fellow stalker. The location links are fantastic aren’t they? Not quite sure about the Mapesbury House though on Shootspaces …

The secret garden example is exquisite and I particular like the Sandy Koepke examples shown. It certainly shows you what can be done with a little design planning and precise execution.
