Whitewashed beauty

Posted on Wed, 23 Sep 2009 by KiM

Everyone needs a special place to relax and unwind – be it a windowseat or a little reading corner somewhere… Well, the following home screams (in a very soft, peaceful voice LOL) serenity from every square inch. It’s a whitewashed Gustavian home that is devoid of almost all colour (might drive me mad after a bit of time tho’) and would be an incredible place to escape to.

Christina Yorkston

Take a minimalist vibe and then layer it with unexpected traditional elements. Christina Yorkston of CYDesign explores the juxtaposition of clean and sophisticated with the bold and the luxurious. A small portfolio online but these are beautifully curated rooms. White that is elegant and crisp.

When life is crazy then peace can be found here. Rockridge, a beach house in Palm Beach north of Sydney. Ah to be able to lock the world away and just relax.

Swedish penthouse

Posted on Mon, 21 Sep 2009 by KiM

I love this Swedish penthouse that is up for sale…well, most of it. I’d just lose all the huge, plain and ugly carpets to show off the gorgeous hardwood and do something about the kitchen. The green is icky.

Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 21 Sep 2009 by KiM

***NOTE: As we are getting alot of entries for the pets on furniture posts, I am (unfortunately) going to start being a bit picky about what entries we use for these posts, starting next week. So here are the basic rules that I implore you to follow if you’d like your pet to be featured here: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so both pet and furniture takes centre stage. (Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture…and your pet happens to be sitting on it). And second, the photo must be of decent quality. For example, if it’s REALLY dark or fuzzy (camera phone) then I may not use it. Hopefully with these rules in place I’ll be able to keep up with the entries we are receiving and share some awesome photos that will keep all our readers happy. 🙂 Now back to the show…

Erin is getting older, coming up to nine years old this fall. And while there are still periods of stir craziness, running around with her sister, there are more moments like these…

Although my brother would never do it, I had to send you the link and a picture of his dog Charlie on his furniture. My brother’s wife reads the blog religiously so I know she will see them.

I would love to submit a few photos of my dog, Wrigley! Here he is on our Malm bed from IKEA. The quilt and pillow shams were made by my mother-in-law for our wedding. The second image is really more of a glamor shot, but I love it! Wrigley was snoozing on our bed, so I had to be rude and interrupt him with an impromptu photo shoot!

The attached picture is of my pug John-John. He couldn’t resist the urge of jumping up in the furniture during a photo shoot we had in the office 🙂 I’m so happy he did, I love this shot! It was quite a hit actually, the photograph ended up being published in quite a few german magazines, they seem to like the look of it. The chairs are the IKEA PS model (not available anymore..) and the covers are from Bemz.com, where I work. I’ll attach a couple of more shots of my beautiful doggies, they’re not ON the furniture in these ones though, but I just love to brag :). Same thing here, they snuck on the photo shoot because of the soft carpet, and then just stayed.

I live in Reykjavik, Iceland, and my boxer Aratan is allowed on the furniture, he is just too cute to resist

It is difficult to choose just one photo of Tigger on the furniture because he is a cat, after all. And what better way to spend the day as a cat than to sleep on the furniture? (Tigger passed in April. We miss him intensely.)

here is one more pic of my little man. it was taken the night before he was attacked by wild dogs, the worst night of my life. his biggest admirer, a photographer friend of ours, took the photo. he was such a handsome dude, and i think he knew it.
– Sherry

here are a couple of pictures of my boo boo radley. the picture of boo on the sofa was initially to show off the pillows a friend had made for me.

Couldn’t resist sending you a pic of my gorgeous poodle Ella. She’s taken a liking to the deck chair we have in the corner that gets lots of warm sunlight from our wall of north-facing windows. She fits just perfectly on the seat, but when our other poodle, Harley, tried to jump up, it was just a bit too much of a squeeze! (he’s about 4kgs heavier than Ella).”

here’s some pictures of Bethania relaxing…

This is Lady, our 3 years old cat that loves the sofa (which cat doesn’t?).
– Giselle (Santa Maria-RS, Brazil)

My guys love this chair the best — maybe it’s the handknit pillow. Anytime Stewart (the big one) is on the chair, Phinney (the little one) climbs on top of it and him. They can co-habitate there nicely for a while — 20 minutes or so — before Stewart goes off for some alone time.
