Jugendstil Design

Posted on Thu, 22 Oct 2009 by KiM

It’s been over two years since I blogged about San Francisco interior design firm Jugendstil Design. Gari Camaisa emailed the other day with a link to a bunch of photos of design projects they’ve completed in the past year. I was stoked because I’m a big fan of their pairings of rustic, earthy and ethnic pieces with mid-century classics – totally unexpected, and it works. The result is sophisticated, warm and timeless. (Thanks Gari!)

Pushing the Envelope

Remember this dream home? I just had to take another look at envelopeA+D and I was not disappointed. Modern but with soul these homes (and a couple of restaurants… hey good ideas are always inspiring!) are the result of a collaborative effort that translates the clients needs and desires and crafts a beautiful and functional solution. It’s all about enclosure and the place of client in the place if you get what I mean. Love it. Just don’t tell my (blind) husband about that birdcage in the house or he’ll just have to have it.

Jennifer Merritt Koskinen

Jennifer Merritt Koskinen emailed the other day to share a gorgeous photo of her friend’s cat for the next Monday’s pet on furniture post and it turns out she’s an architect turned architectural photographer. I took a gander at her portfolio and almost fell off my chair. WOWZERS. Her crisp and bright photos are beautiful, and she has photographed some of the most spectacular homes – most of which are located in Telluride, Colorado. She has captured the grandeur of the homes as well as the beauty of their surroundings. So impressive. (If her photography is this impressive I can only imagine what her architecture work was like). Thanks for letting me share your work here Jennifer!

New photographer crush. Fickle aren’t I but when you come across a portfolio like that of Louis Lemaire it’s hard not to be in awe. Luscious light, great angles and composition. I’m inspired. Are you?

My DIY sofa – replicated!

Tess of Cozy Little Cave had emailed me a little while ago to say how much she loved my DIY couch and that it would work perfectly in her space. It’s finally done and she posted about it on her blog here. It looks fantastic and I’m so glad it worked out for her as well as it did for me. And I reeeeeally like the legs she chose for it. YAY Tess!
