Stalking in Sydney

Posted on Wed, 28 Apr 2010 by midcenturyjo

Time to stalk Sydney with me. We are in my favourite hunting ground Paddington. Oh to be able to afford a home here! How about this grey one? Presenting a stylish but private face to the outside world, it’s what’s going on out the back that has all the drama. I can’t get enough of the black sunroom and the black deck is bliss. Join me for a cool drink and perhaps a splash in the pool? Life can be tough when out stalking! Link here while it lasts.

Stalking in Finland

Posted on Wed, 28 Apr 2010 by midcenturyjo

I think I’ve died and gone to heaven. We have Tiina to thank for the link to the apartment we are stalking today. Classic meets modern in Helsinki, Finland. Warm buttery creams, white floors, sparkly chandeliers, stainless steel, timber and Ghost chairs. I’d gladly be Cinderella and sleep beside the stove in the kitchen. Then again there is always that comfy iron bed. The link is here while it lasts. Stay tuned I have another stalking in Sydney in a few hours.

Reader request – stainless kitchens

Posted on Tue, 27 Apr 2010 by KiM

This request comes from Joanne: “I am looking to renovate soon, and there is a stainless steel kitchen with open shelving I love (Moris Moreno). Do you have more photos of kitchens like these?”

I unfortunately don’t have an arsenal of photos that showcase stainless kitchens with open shelving but I did manage to find a few, and then some without the open shelving that I thought were pretty cool. Hope these help Joanne!

Retro Din to Fam

Posted on Tue, 27 Apr 2010 by midcenturyjo

From dining rooms to family rooms. That’s Volume 7 of The Practical Encycylcopedia of Good Decorating and Home Improvement. Along the way there are dishwashers, dividers, dressing rooms, eclectic style and exercise rooms. So much retro goodness. So many reminders that it is good to move on (or run away screaming). I love the pink dressing room. Curly cane… yum. The shag pile stairs however remind me how much I hate housework. Thank goodness that one has passed… for now. Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 26 Apr 2010 by KiM

If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. (Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture…and your pet happens to be sitting on it). And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.comand PLEASE don’t send me closeups of your pet!)

***There are several more entries after the jump!

I love pets on furniture and your blog (thank you!), so I just have to send you a picture of our cat Kisi. He is NOT allowed on the bed – nevertheless here he is, just loving my antique French iron bed. He was so sound asleep, that I didn’t have the heart to shoo him away.

Our puggle Winston loves to lay on our Ikea armchairs when the sun blares into our loft in the morning. He sits patiently until we put one of our throw pillows on the chair to make it extra soft for him. He’s so spoiled!
Kate

My little Rasky and Jaurus. Rasky, who is lying, has a tumor with metastases, even in the picture did not know it. Forever in our hearts Rasky.
– Ana (Spain)

This is Esme, taking a warm winter nap on our Sloane chair, and possibly winning an award for most relaxed Chihuahua.
– Crystal

I have attached a photo of JJ on my favorite piece of furniture. This mod table/bench was purchased on eBay before we even had a house to put it in. JJ will do anything I ask of him if there’s a camera around…such a ham!
– Brooke

Junebug is exhausted after arranging her collection of objets on the new living room shelves.  Did she achieve the proper balance of mass and light?  The question plagues her!
– Melissa

I’m sending a photo of my rascal Ms. Maggie May hanging out in my bed.  I took this photo after a long day of flea marketing around New York City and is one of the few moments when she’s sleepy enough to stop causing mischief.  I hope you’ll include her in this week’s pet’s on furniture.
– Lauren

Here’s a pic of my cat, Fancy, sitting on my dresser. The dresser is an IKEA HEMNES lingerie dresser, and of course on the wall behind it is a robin’s-egg blue ‘Keep Calm’ poster.
Simone

Meet Hank! He belongs to our dear friends Ashley and Jayson and pays us visits when we all get together. Hank believes the furniture in any home belongs to him…and we oblige. He like our friends, are part of our extended family.”

I’ve been trying for months to catch my Russian Blue Zara (named after the Tzars) unawares so I can send her in for pets on monday. Last night during dinner we managed to catch her royally spread out on the flocked cushions that she’s not normally allowed to sleep on.
– Renae

This is Buddy. He likes to sit in high places to watch all of the action.
– Lisa

I thought that it was time to send you a couple of photos of one of my cats who is a Bengal and a real character who I truly believe thinks is human. His name when we got him was Boomerang but it didn’t suit him so we call him Boomer a.k.a – The Boomking because he can be very verbal and sometimes obnoxious.
Pitiful look of ‘Where’s Mine?’

– Jeannette

This is my beautiful french bulldog, Peggy. Very spoiled, she has two sofas and a chair in her full disposal!!!
– Xenia

Not sure if this makes the cut as it was taken on my iphone, but it’s my cat in a bowl! Mr Bojangles is in the bowl and his sister Motor is beside him. The stove in the background is a vintage 1930s Wedgewood.
– AJ

This is Henna. She is a 3 yr old Shit-zu who loves to lounge around and be lazy…
