Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 28 Jun 2010 by KiM

If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. (Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it). And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim[@]hotmail[.]com and PLEASE don’t send me closeups of your pet!)

This is Mavi, my 8 month old kitten. He is really cuddly and loves sleeping on furry stuff!

This is Morgan. I didn’t even pose him. Seriously. He was just sitting there.

Here is a picture of my cat, Mary, watching tv in our living room. I think it was Law & Order (she used to like it, but lately she has stopped watching it). The art on the wall, listed in order clockwise from the top left includes: two cyanotype photographs by my husband Marek Warunkiewicz, “Float” by Charles Pachter, a small photo by Bill Schwab (sitting on the furniture), a photo taken around 1910 of my great grandfather who was a surveyor in Western Canada, and one of the famous Toronto streetcar prints by Charles Pachter. The vase was made by my husband.

This is my golden retriever, Murphy, relaxing on one of the many chairs and couches that came with the house we kindly purchased for him to enjoy. The clock I found at a thrift store.”

This is my three year old Pekingese Manny showing off his summer haircut. You can find him pretty much anywhere in the house when he wants to lounge, but he really seems to like the sofas where he can keep an eye on everyone 🙂

Meu nome é Alessandra Ayub. Sou do Brasil. Moro na Granja Viana,em São Paulo.Esse é o Nescau, o gatinho da família.Ele adora dormir no sol da manhã que bate na bay window, na sala de almoço. Espero muito que voces gostem. Obrigada.

This is a pic of our adorable fur baby; Cooper. He grown fond of our blue wingback. I wonder if he’ll still like it when I reupholster with a houndstooth print…

Had to share my boy Buddy, this was taken during a photo shoot for the paint company I work for – he’s a perfect match to PPG’s 319-6 Bronco Brown 2 years later and I still can’t keep him off the sofa!!  The other is my beloved Grace who has taken over the L/R sofa.  Both are former fosters and very much adored.

Snoopy is nothing like his namesake cartoon character; Snoopy is a baa-aad dog. He eats chocolate, then has to have his stomach pumped. He eats prescription meds, then has to have his stomach pumped…. He does things, baaa-aad things. How he managed to climb onto my sister-in-law’s table without knocking over the very large and very expensive camera lens, or anything else, no one knows (see that tall black thing in front of him? yeah, that’s the lens). Snoopy. Wa-waaaa.

This is our cat Kitsch on the steel chair in our living room, by a German designer named Roger Knöhr.  Kitsch is trying to upstage the chair, sitting pretty and making eye contact with the lens, like the movie star she thinks she is.  This time the chair wins. How could it not?
– Brooks

Hi my name is Lauren and this is my dog Luke – he is a wheaten terrier. This is him on a chair in our family room – the chair has officially been renamed “Luke’s chair”. He also enjoys the coordinating ottoman, which he also thinks he owns!

Jason Grant

Posted on Mon, 28 Jun 2010 by midcenturyjo

Kim and I were so excited when we received an email from Jason Grant, style director for Real Living magazine. He has a new website (I’ve been lurking for a few days Jason. Your old blog was redirecting) and an exciting peek into his apartment in the latest issue of the magazine. Jason kindly sent over some pics of the tearsheets and well I’m lusting after everything. Those Koskela chairs! OMG!. Couldn’t just leave it at a few pics of Jason’s home though when his new website is brimming with fab tears of his work.

WINKS

… sweet photo “stolen” from Kim

WINKS – weekend links. Here we list what has come in during the week, things we’ve found and things we think you’ll want to see. If you’d like to see your blog or website featured email us and if we think it fits with our readers we’ll link you. So what’s in this week?

  • New slipcovers from Bemz in Designers Guild textiles. The new Barcelona Collection will be available as slipcovers for over 70 sofa and chair models to transform IKEA sofas and chairs.  Think of the outrageous pattern fun you could have with these. Eclectic boho madness!

  • So tactile so beautifully simple. Felt bowls by Gräf & Lantz. Perfect for your keys and smalls, the remotes or just by themselves. P.S. Want a wine quiver as well. Too cool!

  • Hola Amiga from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Bags, pillows, art. What can I say? YUM! Modern with a retro vibe, stand out statement pieces, now colour combos.  These are so hot!

  • The Clothes Track clothes rack from Italian firm Rocket. Fun and functional it’s design amplified (oooh sorry about the pun). Great for keeping your little musos tidy… or your grown up ones as well!

  • I’m loving these beautiful limited edition hand turned timber stools by artist Jo Wilson. Actually I’m loving everything on bricks and mortar Prahan, Melbourne and online store Safari Living. Sweaty palms from lust and longing for just about everything there.

I see Jo’s Swedish photographer and I raise her one Spanish photographer, by the name of Jaime Ferrer. Jaime’s photos are beautiful, and the spaces seem to come to life and beckon you from your monitor to come and enjoy.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone! May you have the opportunity to knock of some items on your TO DO list like I hope to gawd I can do with mine.
