Pinch me … I really am moving

… but they are all mine (and the bank’s)
It’s the simple things that make me happy. Laughing with my husband, rubbing the dog’s belly when he jumps up on the bed at 2 am in the morning and almost pushes me out, finding a perfect little bargain in a thrift store, finishing a painting or messaging madly each morning wi Kim. Simple things like holding a key in my hand. These are my new old house keys and at last I am moving! Excited, grateful and already exhausted! I’ll be offline for the next few days but if all goes well I’ll be back on Tuesday with lots more inspiring rooms and reading guides full of all the fabulous blogs I haven’t had a chance to share yet. I might even have a few pictures of the new old house. Wish me luck!
P.S. The house is called “Collingwood”. Is it bad luck to rename it? Australian readers will understand why I might just want to change it 😉

how wonderful ! congratulations & all the best !
(sorry, cannot help with the name)

Nothing like that got-the-keys feeling, and finally waking up to see how the light comes round, and which birds you have – bliss.
Re-name it, it's yours.

Melanie says:

Congrats! Can't wait to see photos!

Lin says:

Whatever else you do to the house don't touch your front door! It's utterly charming as it is. Best wishes to you and your family in your new home.

Gab says:

Congrats! Finally got there!

I see why you might want to change the name… eeek! Maybe rename but paint a black and white striped wall in rememberance 😉

I am so happy for you both and have kept you in my thoughts as we are settling on our new old home today in SA and it will be a LONG weekend of repainting for us. All the best and I can't wait to see the results!! Xx

Congrats on the house- so exciting and I can't wait to see pictures!! As for the naming, it's your house, if you want to change the name, do it:) Any thoughts??? Love naming talk almost as much as I love decor talk.

Anna says:

Congratulations and good luck!

How exciting! Best of luck for a smooth move in!

Oh, and since I'm from the States, I haven't a clue as to the whole name thing. Who or what is "Collingwood"? Sadly, we don't even name our homes here.

Cate says:

I agree with Chel – if you meet that criterion, you MUST change the name 😛

And I really like Helen's idea of a ceremony; what a lovely way to celebrate a new stage of you life.

Rachelh: Collingwood is an AFL team (who happen to have won the Premiership this year). Every other team traditionally hates Collingwood (and their supporters) – but I'm not quite sure why… it's fairly good natured (there's no real animosity between teams like you might find in other cultures). But we hate Collingwood (we call them the Colliwobbles), so Go the Mighty D's (aka Melbourne Football club aka the Demons aka the team that hasn't won a Premiership in over 40 years – but we live in hope!).

Will be looking forward to your blogs on the new home…For what it's worth, have a Wiki read re Lord Collingwood, it may inspire you to take pride in the name, or at least inspiration for a new name that holds a momento of the original…Happy Settling In!
