Monday’s pets on furniture – part 2

Posted on Mon, 24 Jan 2011 by KiM

If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. (Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it). And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim[@]hotmail[.]com and PLEASE don’t send me closeups of your pet!)

Here’s a photo of my cat Dodger on your Eames repro lounge chair.  He has mastered the art of lounging.
Nan

This is my 11 year old boy, Diego. Though he has a stern expression here, he has quite the personality. This might be his favorite spot, and my husband and I call this his Super Man position 🙂
Maggie

I really like your Monday’s pets on furniture and I will be really happy to see my dog, Sam, there.  He is actually sitting on my favorite IKEA chair.

this is my Mini. She’s 16 and as you can see, quite the queen. She firmly believes that all the furniture in the apartment was bought for her, not for me or my guests. She loves this sort of Windsor Chair dearly, and I meant to sew new covers for the cushion but she always sits on it.

City-turned-country dog Bubba (aka Cindy Crawford) perched on the bed in our freshly remodeled ranch house in Uruguay, staring at the cows, no doubt.

I was trying to get a shot of the entire room and all of my pets happened to be in the picture. The white dog is Mo, the brown/white dog is Fiona and the cat is Frankie. They love being the center of attention and taking naps on the couch and chair. 🙂
– Kelly (Indianapolis)

Please find attached a snap of Watson, our (now) 3 month old beagle mix. It is the miracle shot, the split second in Watson’s day when he is actually still! I can hardly believe I got even one usable shot out of the dozens attempted 🙂

The first minute we had these two art déco club chairs, our oldest tabby cat claimed one of them. Naturally the one with the cosy, fury cushion, underneath the lamp. A classy chair for a classy cat, named Karel (=Charles).
– Lieve (Leuven, Belgium)
1 – This puppy belongs to Caitlin McCarthy and Levi Ogner. Met him while shooting a house tour of their loft, and loved how patient and sweet he was.
2 – These two dachshunds Gaudi and Conan stole the show during my house tour of Kristen James + Mike Dunn’s remodel. They were quite friendly and regal on their vintage couch.
3 + 4 – This siamese cat, Lily Mae, belongs to Liv + Jeff McMillan. She was very timid and generally kept to herself, however during our shoot she came out to eat once in a while. We found it humorous that she deemed the anorexic cat who infamously pukes all the time 🙁 Though we then had to laugh at the thought that she may suffer from body issues?

This is our 25 pound cat Finnegan on our old couch.  He came to us from a feral colony where someone dumped him as a kitten- who wouldn’t want 25lbs of his love!
– Samantha (Victoria, B.C.)
Eight year old Harrison, AKA “Harry” is posing on the late 40’s early 50’s bureau my father used his whole married life that now resides in our guest bedroom.  I like the barley twist detail and fun knobs on the bureau.

I thought I’d forward along a picture of my very fancy greyhound, Ramona…She loves resting her head on our fur pillow, while lounging on our Room and Board sofa!

I have a thing for modular housing. Pavilions, kits, pods. Love ’em. Small spaces that alone or in combination allow you to configure your dream layout in confined spaces or the big wide yonder. Small footprints. Small impact. Small spaces just right for big ideas. This cutie is from kitHAUS and if you click over to their site you can enter their competition to hatch your next big idea staying in this kitHAUS at Arroyo Grande, CA. Look at that view!

Dreaming…

Pinch me. I’m dreaming. Dreaming of slow, warm summers in the south of France. Of family times, olive trees and a converted barn. I’m dreaming and I don’t want to wake up. This stunning feature is from Vårtnya Hem. An incredibly tasty site. Check it out.

Top Design has been a sensation on American TV. It has been the talk of the blogosphere. Now it’s Australia’s turn. Amy emailed me earlier in the week.

I’m a casting director for Granada Media in Sydney and we are currently looking for designers, artists, creatives and decorators for a new design-based reality television show called TOP DESIGN. The show will go to air on Channel Nine and will be hosted by Jamie Durie.

I came across your fantastic blog Desire to Inspire and would love to know if you’re interested in applying for the show? We’re really looking for people with a strong sense of aesthetics and a passion for design- which you obviously have- not just working interior designers!

After my ego just about exploded I calmed down and realised it’s not for me for sooooo many reasons BUT I know that amongst our Aussie readers there is so much talent that I’m sure we could find the winner. Are you super-talented? Of course you are! Do you have a fabulous sense of design style? Of course you do you read DTI! The call for contestants is out. Whether you are a home renovator, stylist or interior decorator, if you know how make a home or a room spectacular then all you need to do is click on over to Top Design’s website and apply. Go on. I know you want to. More importantly I know you can win!
