I came across the portfolio of Vancouver-based interior designer Robert Bailey when he sent an email a few weeks ago with a submission for a pets on furniture post (his entry is the second one here). I immediately took notice of his cool “boxy” shelving (ok maybe not immediately as I first totally fell in love with his French Bulldog). His timeless designs are modern and contemporary, perfect for funky downtown Vancouver lofts. And I HAVE to show my husband the built-in TV surrounded by storage – genius!

I am not normally a modern deco diva, however this space made me swoon! I loved the soft touches in the modern space. The colors were subdued but not boring…genius. Thanks for sharing this!!

I hear ya, the TV built-in is fabulous, we have plaster walls and near impossible (they tell me) to do, otherwise I'd be all over it. The fireplaces are pretty great too. thanks for sharing.

I live in North Vancouver now, but my husband and I owned a loft in Vancouver's Gastown. I think we did a pretty good job in terms of decor, but man could I have taken inspiration from this designer! Wish I had come across his portfolio back then.
Now we live in a great rancher that we're restoring…though recent activity indicates that we'll be fighting an army of carpenter ants first. So potentially "restoring" will turn into "salvaging"…we're hoping not.

Robert Bailey reminds me of your blog…fresh and uncluttered! I adore the chunky wood dining table paired with the simple white chairs.
Your pictures are lovely and I think your blog is chic and inspiring.
Best,

That white round dining table was a welcome shot. All those unforgiving sharp corners in previous pictures are not very welcoming.

Nice, I like it, but is it just me or doesn't it feels like its a bit too many furniture everywere. Kind of crowded!

Wow, so beautiful! Any idea where I could find the bar stools in the third picture of the kitchen? They are exactly what I am looking for…
Maria says:
Robert you such a treasure, I love all your designs. They are all unique. Very enormous and well coordinated. I learn a lot from you. I can't wait to see your other designs. Keep me updated.

Re: Bee's ? The Bar stools are from Ceccotti Collezioni, ics collection, available in Vancouver from Inform. Cheers. Robert
