Cool, dark, sexy. Like a cold drink on a hot, hot day. A cave to escape the blaring sun. A shed sitting on a sunbaked Australian plain. A refuge from the harsh elements. A home. Another short listed entry in the 2011 Australian Interior Design Awards, Hill Plain House, Victoria by Wolveridge Architects. I would enter the dark side. Yes for this I would.

one of my favorites!
i keep teeter tottering between these gorgeous, dark masculine spaces and the pretty, airy feminine ones. my original thought for our home was feminine on the main floor and masculine in the basement, but after viewing this home i want to get rid of all my light colored walls and furniture!
thanks for sharing, great find.

hmmm. I definitely love certain aspects, including the wood post wall and the bathroom. I'm not quite sure how I feel about the whole thing though or if I'd want to live there. Wouldn't there be way too much contrast during the day from the really bright windows but really dark interior? I either love it or hate it but I dont' know which yet.

And yet dark is so often used as a pejorative. Fascinating conversations to be had on the loaded use of words in decor writing!

I love this place, I love home areas to be a little darker then lighter, feels cozier to me…………
Nice use of raw materials, clever solutions to space and decor with the chunks of wood. Like the use of mustard with the dark wood, feels very rich.
