Reader request – double desks

Posted on Fri, 26 Aug 2011 by KiM

Today’s reader request is from logsy: I recently discovered your blog (love it) and found myself wading through the first 100 pages in one sitting. Throughout this I saw a double desk (two chairs, two computers, side by side) and forgot to save the picture for inspiration. I now can’t find the page it was on. With this in mind, I was wondering if you’d consider doing a blog post on double desks? Here you go logsy, some side by side desks and a few that are different options for 2-for-1 workspaces.

Love? Hate?

Posted on Thu, 25 Aug 2011 by KiM

I have had this apartment stored in my “blog this” folder for ages and for some reason haven’t bothered blogging it yet. When I found it last night I could not figure out if I love it or hate it. A bit too modern? Maybe. I don’t know how annoying it would be to have your living room facing the kitchen lengthwise like that. Some of the furniture, accessories and artwork is really not doing anything for me. The wraparound curtains in the bedroom (and a bit in the living room) are driving me insane. So are all those odd little rectangular potlights. I do love the kitchen (where’s the fridge??), the bathroom, the fireplace, the hardwood floors, the GLASS! FLOOR!, the staircase, and the soaring ceilings. (Via Per Jansson Fastighetsförmedling AB)

The writing’s on the wall

Posted on Thu, 25 Aug 2011 by midcenturyjo

Salad sandwiches and real estate stalking for lunch today. I wish I had lived in a place as indie cool as this when I was younger. A great mix of classic mid century hip and an irreverent DIY approach. Don’t be fooled though. It’s  not a student house. The artwork and the prize retro pieces (like the atomica coffee machine) mean big bucks or savy shopping. Today’s house is in one of my favourite parts of Sydney, Redfern. It will of course sell for an obscene amount then be renovated into a sterile “contemporary meets heritage” montage  of big box catalogues and high end fittings. It has real estate “potential” written all over those walls. Shame. I kinda like it’s funky probably soon to be former self. Link here while it lasts.

WTF?!?!
{Maybe I should have added a big box filled with grass in my house reno plans, that way my cats would maybe stop bugging me to tie them up outside, and they could go eat the grass whenever they so desired and then barf it up all over my rugs}

Kelly Deck

It’s been ages since Jo blogged about Vancouver interior designer Kelly Deck. I stumbled across some of her work recently in a magazine and was pleased to find many fabulous spaces on her website crying out for an updated post. I always thought of her as the queen of exteriors but it appears she certainly knows what she’s doing on the inside as well. Her kitchens and bathrooms are what dreams are modern and totally dreamy.
