Reader’s home – Nathalie’s sanctuary

Posted on Wed, 28 Sep 2011 by KiM

Nathalie, from France, sent along some photos of her home to share with our readers. She rents the home (located in a small village 50km south of Paris) and decorated on a budget, wanting to create a cozy space inside and out. In Nathalie’s words: …je crois que les associations de couleurs, de meubles et d’idées priment sur les moyens. I think it’s charming and I am very envious of her beautiful garden (and her pooch is adorable!).

Myrica Bergqvist

Posted on Wed, 28 Sep 2011 by midcenturyjo

A few days ago you’ll remember I featured a bright and colourful apartment styled by Myrica Bergqvist. Today I have a few more shots of this “hundreds and thousands” home from Myrica’s website. Love the apartment. Love Myrica’s work. It’s fun and relaxed, packed with personality and if not quite perfect it’s always perfectly lovely. It can be real life and even a little larger than life as in what I’ll call the “cat house” and the “pool house” will show. Come back tomorrow and I’ll have even more Swedish fab and funky styling as we take a look inside Myrica’s own tiny home.

Some dark

Posted on Tue, 27 Sep 2011 by KiM

And now for the dark. If you enjoyed seeing photos of the progress going on at Jo’s place, I think you’ll appreciate this post. It’s a home bathed in black (mostly). It’s moody, modern and gives off a completely different vibe than my post earlier today. Which would you prefer?

Some light

Posted on Tue, 27 Sep 2011 by KiM

This is the first of 2 posts I have for you today. There is such a huge difference in the mood of a space depending on the colour scheme used…whether it be light or dark. This space is all about white and beige. Classic and French-inspired. The perfect space for a bookworm (although it could use some work – some of the furnishings are just plain icky).

Monday’s pets on furniture – part 2

Posted on Mon, 26 Sep 2011 by KiM

If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to  desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com and PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet!)

This is the world’s best cat Lyman from Vancouver, Washington (US) – relaxing in the sun on the back of the couch….
He loves to lay in the sun on the kitchen table and he always looks so cute I can never kick him off!
– Meg

Our 3 cats (Walleed, Otta, Dwjareb) just love sleeping on our red cinema chairs.
Judith (France)

Tippi is 15-ish. I tried to get a pic of her on the sofa but she would not settle down! Eventually I snuck up on her sleeping on the rug. (The sofa is Restoration Hardware Fulham. I am on the lookout for better pillows).

Our rescued Jack Russel mix – Scottie sitting on our vintage mid century modern chair in the sunlight (A Saturday ritual).
– Luke (Madison WI)

This is Sucata (it means Scrap in portuguese), our Basset Hound. She loves this chair but she is not allowed to sleep there. In face of that…she pretends to be camouflaged.

Meet Barkley, our dear Pug. Here are pictures taken during the Christmas time, posing beside our Christmas Tree. He loves to be the first one to receive gifts on Christmas Eve. Then the other pictures is Barkley during the summer time relaxing on a Muskoka chair.

Knowing how every Monday makes my day and how I enjoy watching all the cute pets you are posting, I want you to meet my cat Marko…energetic, yellow pattern cat that loves cuddling, sleeping on every peace of furniture at home and playing hide and seek every moment of the day :))))
– Mira (Skopje, Republic of Macedonia)

This is Misha my 14 year old cat. She loves to sleep and eat, basically those are her activities during the day. She’s been with me almost half my life. Here she is in my bedroom’s tabouret trying to get away from my other young and playful cat.

this is our old shihtzu who really had thoughts he owned whole house, till cockatoo Sugar made Pierre his personal perch! both were fine with the arrangement and would frequently nap that way! under close supervision of course, as both had cantankerous tendencies!!!!
