Predominantly muted colour palettes help set the tone of sophisticated urban living. Easy elegance with an emphasis on texture and simple layering. It’s all about a 21st century twist on a classic mid century riff. Neal Beckstedt, New York based architectural and interior design studio. Cool New York pads!

Monday’s pets on furniture – part 2

Posted on Mon, 5 Dec 2011 by KiM

If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to  desiretoinspirekim[@]hotmail[.]com and PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet!)

I’ve been hoping to catch my pets snoozing nearby one of my favorite vignettes – an old speaker against my Moroccan stenciled wall – so I could snap a photo. This is about as close as I could get. Our newest family member Jelly is snuggled in her blanket on the loveseat, speaker and wall in the background. And I couldn’t leave out my Bobo. He is pictured here stealing Jelly’s spot later that evening.

These are our girls Stella & Lucy. I caught them on our freshly made bed acting like they own the place…which they basically do 🙂
Lara

Here’s a picture of my Bichon, Harley, in his favorite perch, on top of the bed between all the down pillows.
– Margery (Boulder, CO)

All cats (Alistair, Apollo, Penny) enjoying the warm sun on a cold Minnesota morning. Darwin keeping watch over the neighborhood.
– Jill Hansen (Blaine, MN)

This is Sirts – a feral stray cat from the non-kill shelter (www.kassiabi.ee) where I volunteer. I am domesticating her so she can be someone’s pet. She has been with me for a few weeks now. The funniest thing about her is that she is absolutely fascinated with the TV!
– Merje (Tallinn, Estonia)

The dog in the photo, is my old Jack Russel lady. Her name is Moa, and she love to be in the sun. She is laying on the sofa in the livingroom, a favorite place for her (and me :-)) The cushion in the background, I made by myself and have print the number with color.
Anette

This was my ferret, Pancha, she passed away almost a year ago. She enjoyed having fun with my architecture homework and sleeping on it. She used to sleep with me under the sheets 🙂
– Cynthia (Mexico)

This is ‘elegant’ Guapa, my sister in law’s jack russel. Guapa is elegantly posing in this photo, too cute!

This is Missy sitting on my son’s tiny arm chair I’ve just reupholstered.
– Catherine (New Zealand )
I was so excited to receive our first “real” bed this week from West Elm. Bye-bye steel frame, hello soft plush tuffted headboard and comfy colorful bedding.  Our sweet puppy Cammie, a pit bull/boxer rescue, agreed, immediately showing her approval!
– Dharma (Arlington, Virginia)

I have attached Maggie. She is an English Bulldog that loves to sleep in our bed. Can’t get her out.
– Theresa (San Francisco)

This furry little has been staying at our house while another friend’s house is being renovated. He thinks he can just sleep in my favorite chair all the time. But it seems like most cats are like that.
Danielle

I send you two pictures of my cat Azul in the living room of my apartment.
– Sonja (Netherlands)

The picture shows shows our Labrador Retriever, Mica, and our Yorkshire Terrier, Bailey, sleeping on our favorite couch, with some winter sun filtering in to warm them. Bailey likes to climb up and nap on top of Mica. This was not a posed photo.
– Don (Tucson, Arizona)

Here’s Suzy, our beloved 10 month-old tricolour, rough-coated collie, sitting on the new futon cover, watching me at the computer while I scroll through desire to inspire.
– Lindy (Gatineau, Quebec)

This is Baci…helping me in my office…
