It’s hot! I need to cool down

Posted on Mon, 9 Jan 2012 by midcenturyjo

It was over 40°C here today. That’s actual not apparent. Hot. Needless to say my heat addled brain turned to day dreams of water. Beach, shower, pool. Cool water and shade, a hint of a breeze. My body may have sat here sweating but my mind flew away to this beautiful pool and pavillion by Lake/Flato Architects. I need little more. Perhaps just a ceiling fan turning softly and a cold drink… or several.

It is no secret that Kim and I have a more than healthy respect for photographers. It is through the lens that we slip into a room like Alice down the rabbit hole. A beautiful home exists in a specific space and time and we will never get to experience it except through images. Not just any images today. Wonderful, evocative photographs by American born but Barcelona based Mark Gregory Peters. Light and shade, composition and angle, texture and earthy colours. Spare almost but magical.

A new project

Posted on Sun, 8 Jan 2012 by KiM

I guess I didn’t think I was busy enough with my day job, this blog, a house wrecking/rebuilding project and 7 cats. I started a new project a couple of days ago that I wanted to introduce you to. For months my little sister’s husband has been bugging her and I to start a fashion blog together. I had been blogging some fashion content on my page of this blog and since Jen follows several fashion blogs (as do I) he thought maybe we could give this a go. We finally agreed after Christmas and designed up a fairly simple blog that is now live. It’s called closet rivalry which is perfectly suitable as Jen is currently a stay-at-home mom and owner of a home and cottage so her spending habits are quite a bit different than mine (I tend to be alot less frugal). And we might add in some non-fashion related stuff too as we go. We’re going to give this venture a shot and see what happens, so please stop on by!
