Paul Kariouk

Posted on Wed, 7 Mar 2012 by KiM

Paul Kariouk is a well-known architect here in Ottawa and I figured it was about time I blog his work (plus, a reader emailed regarding his work – check it out after the jump). His creativity is inspiring and the homes he has designed are stunning works of art.

The kitchen below, located in the Glebe home of Carol Sutherland-Brown & Ted Willis, was submitted to us by their daughter Marisa. She says her parent’s met Paul at a party and after getting him on board to come up with designs for their awkwardly closed off kitchen, they now have the perfect open-plan kitchen that is ideal for entertaining and showing off Ted’s artwork

Pure & General sale

Posted on Wed, 7 Mar 2012 by midcenturyjo

We interrupt our normal schedule for this news update. I just had to post this. I just had to let Sydney-siders know. Well I had to let anyone who is in Sydney in the next couple of weeks know. My favourite store Pure & General is having a sale! Run don’t walk. Manager Cassie promises me there are great deals to be had. My last visit was quite a few months ago now (I posted about it here) but I thought I’d give you another taste of the magic of Pure & General by trotting out my photos again. OK back to normal programming 🙂

The coronation of Martin Löf

Posted on Wed, 7 Mar 2012 by midcenturyjo

From the man who bought you this…

… there now is this. Ah! Sound the trumpets. Polish up the crown. In the pantheon of photographers this man is king. All hail Martin Löf. Oh my I’m flustered. I’m gushing.  Brilliant yes?

Cool couch!

We received an email recently from Sara, who is one of six editors from around South Africa reporting on trends, fashion, culture, design, photography, interiors and local creatives on the site Itswhatiminto. Their site is a must-read, and in particular this story that features the home of Kelli Crawford and her AMAZING couch. It’s gorgeous. I think I’m in love.

NORM

I can never get enough of Danish and Swedish architecture. It’s totally a look I hope to achieve in some capacity with my home eventually. The white and minimal look is perfect for a home of chaos with too many cats that is my sanctuary. Jo blogged a project of Copenhagen-based architecture firm NORM a few months ago so I thought I’d revisit their portfolio and feature a bunch of my favourite spaces. LOVE THESE.
