Good eats and good design

Posted on Fri, 16 Mar 2012 by KiM

We received an email and photos from Ria about Barcelona Atlanta – a new Spanish tapas and wine bar in the Atlanta neighborhood of Inman Park and was just named as one of the best bars in America in Travel & Leisure Magazine. Ria’s boss, Sasa Mahr Batuz, is the Creative Director and unlike other restaurants, he’s involved in every process of designing the restaurants (there are several, located throughout Connecticut from the greater New York region to West Hartford and New Haven). The decor is out of this world – I love absolutely every inch. I would not even care what the food tasted like (as long as they had a decent red wine anyway).

Nicola Marc

I have been a big fan of Montreal-based Nicola Marc‘s styling for years, since I first started religiously reading shelter magazines. She has worked for all of my favourite magazines (all of which I have/had subscriptions for) like Canadian Home & Country, Canadian House & Home, Style At Home, Chocolat etc. Needless to say her portfolio is filled with gorgeously styled spaces that are without a doubt magazine worthy.

Country kitchens

Posted on Fri, 16 Mar 2012 by midcenturyjo

Two more kitchens from interior designers Nexus. Country kitchens with just a touch of modern. Scrubbed pine and tongue and groove walls. Whitewashed brick and colourful faience plates. Zettel’z and 7 Chairs. What’s not to love?

Graphic black and white

Stylish and bold. Practical and contemporary. Arts and Crafts house and modern kitchen. Graphic and sleek. Simplified joinery against old wooden floors. Black and white. Flash of scarlet. Love it. Kitchen by Melbourne interior designers Nexus.

New from Domus Nova (#3)

This is the last home for today from Domus Nova, and seems to be the least oddball of the bunch. Except it has a large hippo bar in the living room….and a quirky Ron Arad Paperdelle bronze chair (that’s like a chair and a runner in one!) near the front door….and a weird porthole thing in the floor with matching skylight….
