I find myself walking in the dunes staring at houses that front the sea from Australia to England and now I’m feeling the sand between my toes in Massachusetts. A family home in Aquinnah by Hutker Arcitects. It’s a modern take on the simple New England beach vernacular. No big old money mansion here. It sits quietly in its surroundings with its shingles slowly greying. Just a cosy, family home with a big picture windows framing what it is all about… the view across the waving dune grasses to the sea. Yes please.

Oregonbird beat me to it. Perfection.
Paul says:
That huge X in the main window destroys the view.
Large X is in 2nd pic.
What was the architect thinking?
Melanie says:
OMG let me move in immediately!!! I love the light streaming in the bunk bed room and the pale yellow furnishings….
Tim says:
In response to Paul's question of what was the architect thinking putting a large X in the center window:
He was probably thinking there is a lot of wind on the coast and this wall is almost entirely made up of windows…we need to add some shear strength to the structure. Either that or his structural engineer told him it had to be done.
I don't like the X either but I'm sure it was necessary.
It is a very nice house, though maybe a little too much stainless steel for my taste. Especially the bed frame, that looks painful.

Wow!!!!!!!!! Beautiful.
Jessie says:
Following up with Tim's response. Tim you are correct! The design winds on Cape Cod are 120 mph and the X was added for the shear strength and to help with racking in high winds. There are a lot of windows in that room and not a lot of structure.
The house is beautiful!!

Wondering who made/designed the bunks? Need something similar and those are fantastic
James says:
The one thing I don't like and would change for sure, is who owns it!It should be my name on the Deed!LOL
