A renovated mill in Italy

Posted on Wed, 23 May 2012 by KiM

A big thanks to Deb for giving us a tip about this gorgeous Italian mill, photographed by Stefano Scatà. Dating back to 1570 and located in San Bartolomeo di Breda di Piave, Treviso Italy, the mill is now an inn called Locanda Rosa Rosae and is owned by Elisabetta and Silvio Stefani. It’s a gorgeous, jaw-dropping mix of old and new that is my absolute dream – to take something really old and modernize it while maintaining as much of the old charm as possible. *sigh* How rewarding that must feel when accomplished.

Stalking with a failing memory

Posted on Wed, 23 May 2012 by midcenturyjo

I have real estate stalked so much these past few years that it has all become a blur of gorgeous home after gorgeous home. It’s a hard job but someone has to do it. Somewhere in the recesses of my mind I remember this house the first time round when it was for sale. Or I think I do. I often bookmark houses, excited that I have found them then promptly forget them as I find another and another. The original dropped. The new house offered up on desire to Inspire. The point of all this waffle? I think I may have posted this house in another incarnation… perhaps. The giveaway… there are two versions of the living room. Still a wonderful inwardly looking modern home. Link here while it lasts

New from Martín Gómez Arquitectos

New work from Argentinian architect Martín Gómez. Sitting firmly within its landscape it is a contemporary home of soaring voids and intimate spaces. Holistically embracing architecture, interior and landscape design this statement home turns its back on the street and looks reflectively inwards to its private lush garden providing refuge from the everyday world in a luxury setting. More see previous work by Martín Gómez Arquitectos here.

Stephani Buchman

I recently came across the portfolio of Toronto photographer Stephani Buchman and was thrilled to find many gorgeous spaces in her repertoire, all beautifully composed and captured. I thought I’d share some of my favourites with you (and if you’re hungry, check out her snaps of food – YUM!).

Reader’s home – Dan’s apartment for sale

Posted on Tue, 22 May 2012 by KiM

Dan emailed us with a link to his Stockholm apartment that is on the market (apparently right in the block where the Millenium movies were shot). It’s very small but he’s done such an awesome job giving it character and not overcrowding it with stuff (although perhaps removed for these listing photos, but I’m thinking we give him the benefit of the doubt). And of course, it’s all white, as the best Scandi homes are.
