Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 30 Jul 2012 by KiM

If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.comand PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet! Thanks!

this is sam relaxing on my bed. he loves to claw the blanket to death!

I’m in charge of SrPerro.com, which is the first dog friendly guide to Spain and what I do is photograph my dog in various places around Madrid and other cities… and, yes, sometimes he gets to sit on top of furniture, like here, on top of an old barber’s chair. It’s in an antique & furniture shop in Madrid. His name is Colega, he is five years old and a lovely mongrel.

This is our beautiful Lord Byron (born in Byron Bay) being zen on our Missoni Ottoman.

This is Rufus….. who likes to sneak up on the sofa, when you’re not keeping too close an eye on things.

Here’s a picture of my bengal cat, Chandler,  on a chair that I thrifted for $24!

Attached is a picture of my kitty Tycho lounging on his favorite chair. This chair was originally going to be a reupholstery project but I never got around to it. The seat has the perfect cat-size indentation to curl up in, and Tycho seems to love the texture of the velvety upholstery.

This is my sweet british shorthair blue named Pufarina and her two adorable kittens (3 weeks old) lounging on the orange sofa in a corner of my livingroom. They like to be photographed there because they know that orange contrasts nicely with their coat. 🙂
– Raluca (Romania)

This is a picture of Leo, who sleeps on the chakki  at my house – I guess it makes a good dog bed!
– Ivey (Rock Hill, South Carolina)

Attached you will find two photos of my dog Emma. She loves laying in chairs and basically just move from one to another. The first photo from the back of the chair is the best, and is the morning image I was treated to as I walked past the living room before heading off to work. That is her front leg sticking up in the air. The second picture is a pretty poor picture from the other side showing how she was laying in the chair.

Sidi Kauki

Run away, far away to an exotic land. To a magical beach and a magical house. To Morocco and Essaouira. To a traditional Dar but one with a difference. Retro and funky, modern and quirky. Bespoke yet family orientated. You’ll find me by the open fire with my toes buried in the beni ouarain. Sidi Kauki via Airspace locations.

So excited! The latest edition of my favourite e-magazine est is live today. Love love love est. The look, the aesthetic, the vibe, the photography and styling, the homes. Whatever you put it down to it is one of my must reads. The editorial crew sent us images from the latest issue. Just enough of a tease. Head on over and devour. While you are there you should subscribe. It’s free and subscriptions bring exclusive content. Yay! And there’s a giveaway! Issue #6 on the virtual news stand now.

A trip…and a cottage

Posted on Sun, 29 Jul 2012 by KiM

When this post publishes, I will be on a plane to Las Vegas. An odd destination this time of year considering it’s obscenely hot in Nevada, but I was given the opportunity to spend a few days there thanks to Traditional Home magazine. I’ll be  taking part in some festivities at the Las Vegas Market show (#LVMkt) with a handful of other bloggers – including a “treasure hunt” (which you can likely follow via our Facebook page #LVMTHTH). FUN!!! Anyhoo, I’ll have a few posts set up in my absence, and in the meantime here is a cottage in the UK that’s mostly shabby chic, kinda Scandinavian, and just a whole lotta cuteness! Saturday with friends

Posted on Sat, 28 Jul 2012 by midcenturyjo

Late afternoon. The sun is hanging low in the west. A cool breeze nips and snaps to remind me that winter hasn’t quite gone yet. I’m sitting waiting for friends to arrive. Wine, cheese, light the fire when the sun goes down. Jazz and chicken pot pie for dinner. Maybe mushy pies. A movie with orange almond cake during the interval. (Remember intervals and choc top cones?) Easy going, relaxed and just perfect. A bit like this warehouse space. Warm, cosy, real. Perfect for a Saturday afternoon with friends. Found at the always inspiring Airspace Locations. The Shoe Factory.
