YAY! It’s time for a new issue of one of my favourite e-mags, Home & Delicious! Always awesome spaces and spectacular photography from Halla Bára Gestsdóttir & Gunnar Sverrisson of Iceland. Total eye candy on a Friday. You’re welcome. 😉

Period modern

Posted on Fri, 22 Mar 2013 by KiM

I found the following London home in the archives of one of my favourite real estate sites, Domus Nova, and immediately fell in love. The owner wanted to preserve the period details while ensuring the home worked for their modern family (with the help of Michaelis Boyd Associates). The weathered stone flooring (heated!) is the perfect rustic touch, the original panelling on the walls, internal window shutters and marble fireplaces were all preserved or carefully restored to create a unique and intiguing interior. This home is going right into my inspiration folder.

Nixon Tulloch Fortey Norman Avenue

What is hiding behind the straight laced period facade? Not quite what you think. Melbourne based Nixon Tulloch Fortey Architecture has created an extension that pushes the possibilities of this historic home. Its open plan with bright colour flashes in the new while the renovation of the existing house provides contrast with its dark, rich palette.

Ivana Niskota from Croatia emailed us about the interior design blog she started a few months ago called Dekorum. She is a great photographer who happens to feature Croatian homes she has photographed on her blog (among other things) and I wanted to share some with you.
