If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy then it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.comand PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet! Thanks!
This is our sweetie, the cat Ferdinand, in our livingroom.

My cat Bella Jade is sitting atop a vintage sofa from my Grandmother that I recently had reupholstered. The next photos are of her loving the sunlight on a cozy bed.

Here’s little Maggie sat in her favourite bird-watching spot, next to her (and my) favourite cushion. We were walking our dog Charley one night when she followed us home and never left!

Cataleya is a kitten rescued by one of my design client’s, and appreciates fine antiques every bit as much as her owners. Here she is sunning on two of their collection, located in Houston’s River Oaks neighborhood.

Our new kitten (Martha Stewart) loves fine china and Barbara Barry.
– Lorrie
This was our curtain made of “fuxicos”, a brazilian handmade technical, in Brazil. I loved this and our cat loved to climb up there and play with the fuxicos…

My two ethical leather sofas, the leather is taken from Kudoo’s that die naturally in nature reserve….it’s not treated so all the scars are still present……and of course my pooch, Labradoodle Ruby….she’s really not allowed on them but Dad had gone to work!

Gardenercat says:
Why would anyone allow a pet to sit on a plate at a table set for dinner? Yuck! Just as bad as pets in bed.
juli says:
Bo! I love you!!!
minnesota says:
ease up people! tell me that the cat relaxing on the dinnerware didn't make you laugh!? i would wager 100% that the owner lifted her cat up nicely, deposited her on the floor, gave her some advice and exchanged all linen, flatware and china with new. anyone who has a cat and says: my cat isn't allowed on the table is living is just being optimistic. although my cat has never actually walked on the china–it's still an amazing aspect of why we love pets. plus, she's MARTHA STEWART!
love monday pets on furniture.
sarah says:
Love Martha Stewart on the dinner plate! Love Bella Jade lolling in bed, too. Cats rule.
Tamara says:
when you live with cats, you eventually come to realize that they will always go *exactly* where they know they shouldn't. Handvacs and lint rollers must have been invented by folks with cats. Luckily, they also love to pose and be centre of attention, thus the lovely specimens today. Gizmo and Monty absolutely cracked me up!
maison21 says:
i love the kitty on the dinner plate- so mischievous and cute. oh, and news flash: PLATES CAN BE WASHED! crazy i know, but true!
unclench, y'all.
Brenda says:
I believe Gizmo and Monty are Devon Rex? Love the wavy coat and ginormous ears!
In My Wheele House says:
Ah, thanks Brenda! Devon Rex. Nice.
Suzanne Richard says:
The cat on the plate must become a Lolcat on the cheezburger network! So funny! Katie, can you tell me more about your ethical leather? Thank you.
Judy Beals says:
The cat on the dinner plate – disgusting? Get real! If you are going to have a cat you have to know they will go where they wish when you are not looking. I made
a two layer cake years ago and was letting it cool on the counter (never thought a cat would like sweets). I came back a bit later and our cat Bo had sat on one of
them & had eaten half of the other! Yes, I found cake crumbs on his rear! Lucky I had all the ingredients for another cake!
Gizmo & Monte are our "grandcats" and they have given us many a chuckle!
