Antique, vintage, thrift…

Posted on Fri, 5 Apr 2013 by KiM

The Ottawa Antique Show starts today (WOHOO!!!) and I’ll be heading over later this afternoon to devour every square inch before it opens as the lovely organizers have asked me to put a badge on all of my favourite items. SO FUN!!! I’ll try and remember to snap some photos of the goodies too. I’ll hope to be around for the opening, and I’ll be heading back tomorrow with a bunch of my family in the hopes I can convince them to buy some cool vintage pieces! There’s nothing like the thrill of the hunt when going to shows like this or thrift and antique shops and flea markets. And as I always say, there’s nothing like mixing vintage finds with modern pieces for that unexpected juxtaposition of eras and styles. Totally my bag. So in honour of the show I went through some of my photo stash and found photos of spaces with vintage pieces that I love. Enjoy, happy Friday, and those of you in O-town, come on out to the show!

Hannotte Interiors

Posted on Fri, 5 Apr 2013 by midcenturyjo

Hannotte Interiors – “uncommon design for common folk.” Hear hear! Stylish, inspiring and real is what Toronto based designer Jenn Hannotte does best. Part vintage, part modern, a little organic and always with a zest for life. It’s not so much about bags of money but using the right resources. Just my sort of design.

Flamant

Flamant is a home decor company with shops in Belgium, France, Germany and Italy. They have done some residential interior design projects that are classic, country, Gustavian with bits of modern vintage and contemporary thrown in for good measure. Love the neutral colours, and completely head over heels for the the tiles above.

A haunted house

A big thanks to Lisa for sending us this link to a real estate listing in Rosemont, Montréal. This home has got to be haunted! While it needs a SERIOUS amount of TLC, the woodwork is to die for – check out the interior doors! And those chandeliers! The bedroom is my favourite – SPOOKY!

A little studio apartment with a stylish wall unit/seating combo in Centennial Park. The perfect virtual crash pad for my imaginary shopping trips to Sydney. Someone has already snapped it up though. Sold. Link here while it lasts.
