I wish

Posted on Sat, 15 Jun 2013 by midcenturyjo

I wish I could live in this New York apartment. I wish I could be clean and tidy. I wish my fat labrador didn’t shed hair, that my blind husband didn’t drag dirty fingers along walls as he walks through the space, that I always manage to spill a drop or two of my coffee as I traverse the kitchen. I wish I could live in this white wonderland. White walls, white floors, white and light furniture. I wish that powder room was mine. I could live happily just in that powder room. I wish I didn’t shed hair like my dog. I wish I had a cleaning lady. I wish I lived in this New York apartment.  Sigh… I wish. By Resolution: 4 Architecture.

Sköna hem

I thought for my post today I’d do a little something different, and feature some spaces that have inspired me lately. As per my usual favourites, it’s all about black, white, grey, brown and anything neutral, with industrial, Scandi, rustic and mid-century touches. (On a side note it’s interesting that my wardrobe has gone this route lately as well. I’m obsessed with designers that do lots of draping and stick to neutrals such as Rick Owens, Helmut Lang, Damir Doma…) So here is some eye candy/room porn to ease you into your weekend. Hoping it’s sunny and warm where you are! Cottage here I come!!!

In House

Posted on Fri, 14 Jun 2013 by midcenturyjo

Let’s end the week with a trip back to Brazil and the portfolio of interior designers Karina Salgado, Andréa Bugarib and Betina Barcellos of In House. Whether a bright and airy house or a a chic apartment high in the sky their work builds from a neutral base layering with colour and texture to create warm inviting spaces that are casually elegant and fresh. Love their treatment of balconies in the high rise apartments they have designed. Wonderful use of often overlooked, valuable space creating enticing outdoor rooms.

Magnus Marding latest

It has been far, FAR too long since I featured the work of ridiculously talented Swedish photographer Magnus Marding. It’s so easy to get lost in his photos, and wish you in one of those spaces to witness the beauty first-hand. I had to put the photo above first because it’s my dream bedding – I can’t get enough of wrinkled linen, and the colours are gorgeous. *drooling*

The clock house

Posted on Thu, 13 Jun 2013 by KiM

Have a look at this cool home for sale in London. It’s called The Clock House and is the former yard office for the long defunct Cannon Brewery, what used to be one of East London’s largest independent breweries. The brewery fell into disuse about 20 years ago and was converted into a residential home about five years ago. The current owner completed his renovations recently but is now keen to sink his teeth into a new project. The Clock House is a truly unique building – the clock on the tower still works. Now the decor is unfortunately nothing to get excited about but imagine the possibilities! I do love the kitchen – especially the large white painted rectangle on the hardwood floor. It’s like a massive washable rug. 🙂 (listed with Currell Residential
