Disc Interiors

Posted on Tue, 2 Jul 2013 by midcenturyjo

A marriage of contemporary and traditional. A coming together of warmth and personality and the simplicity of home. It’s feel good. It looks good. Texture and neutral palettes with accents of rich, deep colour. Beautiful spaces by Disc Interiors.

Evoke International Design

Posted on Mon, 1 Jul 2013 by KiM

In honour of it being Canada Day I thought I’d feature Canadian talent in today’s post. David Nicolay and Robert Edmonds are Vancouver’s Evoke International Design who dabble in conceptual thinking, spacial and interior design and graphic design for restaurant, retail and entertainment design and branding; residential and corporate office design. They have a few residential projects under their belt that are modern and sleek, and gorgeous inside and out. I particularly love their creativity with staircases. HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!!!

Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 1 Jul 2013 by KiM

If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, if the photo is dark or fuzzy then it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.comand PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet! Thanks!

I just love your pets on furniture. This may be because our beautiful dog Curly Sullivan (an Australian working dog) spends most of his time on ours.
– Caroline (Barossa Valley, South Australia)

Hjalmar is now 1 year old and full of energy. But every now and then he relaxes. For a little while 😉
– Janne (Norway)

Oliver (four months old), and Foxy (two years old), both Dachshund mixes, settle in for a nap on the sofa.
Melanie (St. Petersburg, FL)

Our Mutt Darby enjoys nothing more than sitting atop the back of a sofa…
– Liz (Durham, North Carolina)

This is Martini, doing what he loves best: sleeping on living room chairs, and exposing himself.
– Anna (Rochester, NY)

Wanted to share a picture of my just recently renewed chair (cushioned stool) which almost immediately was occupied by my 5 years old cat Kafka. All long story about the chair is in my blog.
– Egle (Vilnius Lithuania)

This is my beautiful Bear on my all time favourite chair.
– Kirsten

Meet Pierre, my 19 week old toy poodle sleeping sofa below my 70’s wool hanging aka the ugly bearded bloke.  I think he is dreaming of stealing socks or getting his chompers on the biggest chew toy ever hanging above him.
– Erin

this is Roscoe, lounging on our Cognita Bench–please note his real bed in the background. He is a 2-year-old Boston Terrier who enjoys a happy existence in New Orleans.
– Maribeth

Not technically furniture unless you consider “couch potato”…dog is Tucker and under him is Patrick

Bathing

Posted on Mon, 1 Jul 2013 by midcenturyjo

It may be winter in my part of the world and the whole idea of bathing Japanese style in this indoor outdoor bathroom is just a little too challenging but as soon as Spring rolled round (temperature and leaves on the trees) you couldn’t keep me out! By b.e. architecture.

Trumpeting Tondro

Posted on Mon, 1 Jul 2013 by midcenturyjo

You’ve seen his work everywhere. Name a leading shelter magazine and his photos have graced their pages. US, Europe, here in Australia. If it’s all about being on top of good design then you can guarantee that Trevor Tondro‘s photos will be the ones that take you there. I’ve featured his work before. Kim’s a huge fan too. But then again aren’t we all? Drum roll please….
