It really could not be more obvious that a guy’s guy lives here. I may be stereotyping but I’d wager a cat. It has everything a masculine pad could ever dream of – brick walls everywhere, steel beams, loftiness, reclaimed wood, a decent media centre, a just-big-enough kitchen to eat take out in….and it’s even got pets made out of conduit! Could you live in 28 square metre apartment? I don’t think I could. Where would I put all my stuff? I’m such a hoarder. But I’m always fascinated by clever spatial solutions to living small. A puzzle box of an apartment in Madrid, Spain by Beriot Bernardini Arquitectos.
Christmas! Really? Christmas already? Wasn’t it only New Year’s Eve a couple of months ago? I was shocked into action when the crew at Inside Out sent me a sneak peek at the cover story of the November issue, “Comfort & Joy” with words by Clare Patience, styling by Julia Green and photography by Armelle Habib. Love the casually stylish, beach meets scandi meets handmade vibe of both the decorations and the house. Can’t wait to to devour the rest of the magazine.
Aussie readers can pick up their copy Thursday. Don’t fret if you aren’t in Australia though because you can read along on Zinio, Google Play and the Apple Newsstand. I’ve been reading for a couple of months on Zinio and I love it. Still think I’ll be picking up a real copy though. Can’t break the habit.
Jessica Helgerson and her team BRING IT with each and every project. This time it’s a public library in Portland which then became a church meeting hall which then became a totally gorgeous home. I am so smitten with their kitchens – how they look more like a living room than a typical kitchen. In this one it’s achieved with shelving around the main section of cabinetry (with a ladder) – and very cool how it mimics the shelving on the opposite side of the room. (photos by Lincoln Barbour)
In my humble opinion, there is nothing sexier than black and gold. Put them in a kitchen with a gold velvet couch, graphic tile flooring and white subway tiles and I think I’m ready to pass out from sheer ecstasy. LAWD HALF MURSEY!
