Another day at the office

Posted on Thu, 7 Nov 2013 by midcenturyjo

How cool are the offices of Penson, a London based firm of architects, interior designers and engineers! White, bright with just a touch of the bizarre. That’s Regina Phalange, their mascot. Don’t ask me why!

Wrightson Stewart

Brisbane based interior design firm Wrightson Stewart is on a roll this year. Amazing work and amazing recognition for their innovative, contemporary, masculine designs. Now they have been shortlisted in four categories at the Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) for 2013,  Event Design, Workplace Under 1000m2 (both can be seen here), Single Residential and  Designer of the Year Award (first time a Queensland firm has been shortlisted for the big gong). It’s easy to see why. Here is the warehouse apartment that has been garnering all the attention. So cool, so urban, with a minimal colour palette and clean lines with just a riff of retro. Congratulations WS!

I die for that rug. And painting the trim and part of the stairs black is such an easy solution to add drama to otherwise boring architectural detail.

I could definitively chill here. Fantastic window.

Such a cozy living room. I can see myself sitting there whilst planning a trip to Africa.

When pink accents actually work really well.

I want this art. LOVE!

Dark bedrooms are so fabulous for the cocooning feeling they exude. I miss my chocolate brown bedroom.

I desperately want to move to a warmer climate and have a porch like this. I’d live out here.

Kishani Perera

It has been several years since we featured Beverly Hills interior designer Kishani Perera (here and here). She continues to leave me captivated with her elegant yet eclectic, classy yet comfortable interiors that seem to get better and better over time. Throw in some vintage industrial bar stools into a chic grey kitchen. Paint a door or dining room walls black for drama. Kelly green walls and kitchen cabinets for the daring. Love it all.
