Bleu Leman Design

Posted on Mon, 4 Nov 2013 by KiM

California based interior designer Diane Leifer of Bleu Leman Design (named after the Swiss lake Lac Leman where she grew up) creates casual, classic spaces that exude a bit of the beach, a dash of rustic/industrial, a pinch of modern/contemporary…whatever style best suits her clients. The result is totally liveable, completely confortable and always timeless.

Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 4 Nov 2013 by KiM

If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, if the photo is too dark or unfocused then it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim[@]hotmail[.]com and PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet! Thanks!

This was the first piece of furniture I acquired. Buddy (the brown dog) immediately claimed it as his. My second dog, who is not featured in this picture, decided we needed to redecorate and kindly removed the fabric from the upper cushion while we were out one day. So, I did some rudimentary recovering. Now our new foster dog, Simon, has decided that he fits too 🙂 Its still my favorite chair in the house!
p.s. Simon has difficulty getting around due to bum knees. We are trying to raise money to repair both his knees and help him find his “forever home”.  https://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/szb3/surgery-for-simon

I’m sending you photo of our cat Mana. She’s enjoying classic 30’s armchair we inherited from great-grandma.

Dog on chair: This is Miette when she is tuckered out.
Dog on rug: Miette is thankful for the new Ikea rug.
– Michèle (Minneapolis)

Our latest stray love. He never knew how to jump up on furniture but with a little help from our other cats he seems to get the hang of it. Poor baby. What a little prince.

This doesn’t qualify for Monday’s PoF, because A) No furniture and B) Not my pets, but had to send this for your enjoyment anyway. Best as I can trace it, the photo was once posted on orvis.com in a customer submissions contest (Orvis sells clothes for the outdoors and pet beds.) It’s my favorite photo ever.

Ufogel

Posted on Mon, 4 Nov 2013 by midcenturyjo

Like a UFO landed in an alpine village or a retro caravan stopped in its travels, perhaps a sculptural bird or even a chicken coop perched next to an old timbered farmhouse, Ufogel (UFO plus the German word for bird, Vogel) is a 45 m2 larch wood getaway in the village of Nußdorf in the East Tyrolean region of Austria. Look at the views. It would be like sitting, sipping wine and reaching out to touch heaven. I might not include you in this Monday escape. Hope you don’t mind. I’d like to share it with my blind husband. I want to describe every inch of that view.

Canal House

Posted on Mon, 4 Nov 2013 by midcenturyjo

Monday means escape day. Run away from the beginning of the work week and dream of faraway places. Enter the dark and moody luxury of the Canal House boutique hotel in Amsterdam’s Jordaan district. Waiting within is a secret green oasis bathed in dappled light. Light and dark, old and new, drawing inspiration from Dutch history and art. Shall we run away to the dark side? Work can wait.
