We’re all guilty of it. File away our favourite images and promptly forget about them as we flit from the current new favourite to the next new favourite. I went drifting in a most delightful daze through my files looking for inspiration for a new project I’m working on when I came upon these spaces by Sara Ruffin Costello. Perfect!

And nothing to do with my project this set of stairs. Just because I love plants huddling in groups on steps.

space grace & style

“… a love of all things traditional, vintage, ambiguous and unusual – the studio excels in the unconventional juxtaposition…” Personality, a touch of whimsy, old with new. Bold colour plays against warm wood floors and bright light floods in through windows. Welcome to the Newtown, Victoria home of interior designer Rebecca Jansma of Space Grace & Style.

galeria arquitetos

Fernanda Neiva, Fernanda Palmieri and Gil Melo are the talented trio behind galeria arquitetos, based in Sãp Paulo, Brazil. I really love these spaces – bright, energizing, functional and liveable. I now want yellow wall cabinets and a wall of plants.

Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 20 Jan 2014 by KiM

If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, if the photo is too dark or unfocused then it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.comand PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet! Thanks!

Attached is a photo of my furry nephew, Zia. He’s an affectionate Birman cat living in South Africa and always looks regal on my parent’s furniture.

Our Boston Terrier, Gedman, on his favorite blanket in the master bedroom. Who am I kidding? Every blanket is his favorite.

First image is our English Bulldog, Miss Bourbon Ball, aka Beebs.  On our recently dyed pink Karlstad. Her favorite spot in the house.
Second image is Miss Evy Cat, on our knockoff lounge chair.
Third is Carbon and Evy on the Karlstad.

I’ve already sent you a photo from my five years-old cat, Diniz, on December 2012. Here’s another photo. He’s sitting on my place, when I came back from the kitchen 🙂

Larritt-Evans

More contemporay Australian living. This Carlton, Melbourne home with interiors by Larritt-Evans has an easy going modern aesthetic. A black and white palette warmed by wood has dashes of colour breaking through. Love the wine storage, that little spot just under the stairs, the courtyard with beer garden table and benches and of course the rusted reinforcing bar vertical garden.
