Regis Larroque

Posted on Thu, 20 Feb 2014 by KiM

How is it possible that Parisian apartments are always just so damn cool??!! I came across the website of Paris-based designer Régis Larroque and he has created one fantastic space after another. And they are all so distinctively European. Must be those magical herringbone floors, ornate fireplaces or ridiculously high ceilings. I love all of his projects…my favourite rooms are coming up.

Bathroom ideas

Do you find you collect more and more inspiration photos the more you are delayed in your renovation plans? I certainly do! As most of you will know I live in an 1860’s brick colonial but most of you will not know that our only bathroom is way down the back of the house in the old stables. Oh the foibles of an old house, old plumbing and old renovations completed half way through the 20th century when expediency and low cost were the words of choice for bathroom renovations. What I would really really love for our new upstairs bathroom is something just like these amazing bathrooms by Australian interior designer Justine Hugh-Jones.

Rooigem House

Like a series of stage sets or a a ramble of rooms filled with one man’s dreams and treasure Rooigem House in Sint-Kruis, Belgium is the creation of antiques dealer and designer Jean-Phillipe Demeyer. The medieval manor with moat has been lovingly restored and now is home and business. The riot of colour and pattern and OTT pieces make it a sensory delight. Imagine visiting in real life. Where to look. What to touch.

Black and white

I bought a few Spanish decor magazines while on holidays (I had to leave them behind because my suitcase was overweight dammit!) and this eye-popping apartment was featured in one of them. It is located in Milan, in a building designed by noted Italian architect Giò Ponti, and is the home of Italian interior designer Barbara Falanga. This bold, graphic apartment is all about black and white, with retro furnishings from the 30s to the 70s. Glam with edge. Not for the timid!

A Brooklyn loft

Posted on Wed, 19 Feb 2014 by KiM

Photo agent Mara Singer sent us some photos of the Brooklyn loft she shares with her husband, still life photographer David Sawyer. Located in the neighbourhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant, these folks apparently paid the highest price ever for an apartment here. WHOA! These are only glimpses of the 2 bedroom, 2 bath 1,559 square foot space with a 600-square-foot private roof deck which includes items from their travels and David’s photography of course. It’s a beautiful loft. Thanks for sharing Mara!
