Chrystobel Crescent

Posted on Mon, 28 Apr 2014 by midcenturyjo

A Federation style house and a modern extension. An earlier renovation that just wasn’t working for the owners. Enter Multiplicity who have taken the addition, changed ceiling heights, opened walls with glazing, added interest through timber joinery and brought the uninspiring space to life without the wholesale waste of demolishing an addition that was under 10 years old.

Nicole Franzen encore

There’s a passion in photographer Nicole Franzen‘s work. I’ve raved about it before. Self taught and oh so talented. Food, lifestyle, travel. A wonderful way to make your way in life, through a camera, capturing beauty, storytelling with light and lens. And if her professional work inspires you then check out her instagram. You may just become a follower.

Lily & Oscar

I recently started following an Instagram account which captured my attention, which lead me to an online store, and a Facebook account….and I was soon totally smitten. lointerior is the Instagram account of interior stylist Josephine Ekström, who has the most beautiful shop in Sweden called Lily & Oscar. It has a rustic French/Swedish feel with tons of neutral colours, textures and organic shapes mixed with bits of modern designs for a bit of a contemporary edge. Josephine takes photos around her glorious shop, as well as in her home….and here are some of my favourites. (Oh, how freaking stoked I would be if a store like hers opened in Ottawa!)

Stalking leftovers

Posted on Sat, 26 Apr 2014 by midcenturyjo

It’s that time of the week. The ones that almost made the cut but then didn’t because I hummed and hawed and changed my mind. My stalking leftovers. Why? I’m very fussy. Call me particular, finicky, choosy and hard to please. Not quite right, bad photos, I need more photos please, house is amazing furniture is deplorable or no furniture at all! Can’t quite put my finger on it listings with something that has me nodding “yes”. This week’s finds include a house I chose because of a maidenhair fern, a red polar bear in the backyard, the country home and gardens of an interior designer whose life was shockingly cut short, a kitchen that no one must use and a warehouse space with amazing ceiling screaming for a makeover, steampunk perhaps? Happy Friday!

Is anyone else just DYING for summer to hurry up and arrive? I want to walk on some green grass, enjoy the warm sunshine, maybe sit in a butterfly chair, hang out on a deck and have dinner al fresco.
