A colourful beach house

Posted on Tue, 8 Jul 2014 by midcenturyjo

Awash with sunshine and colour, white walls and floors. A casually chic family home with stunning sea views. The perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city living yet still on the northern beaches of Sydney. Palm Beach Tower. It can be yours for a few days or a few weeks as a holiday let. Who wants to join me for a winter weekend getaway?

A sophisticated loft

Posted on Mon, 7 Jul 2014 by KiM

I was craving a little sophistication, a little hip and chic, and came across this loft by California design firm Caitlin & Caitlin (Caitlin McCarthy and Caitlin Murray) that does the trick. It is an eclectic mix of modern and Hollywood Regency, random colours and patterns, yet the marriage of disparate pieces makes for a very intriguing home. Love it!

Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 7 Jul 2014 by KiM

If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s pets on furniture post, please ensure your photos follow these basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, if the photo is too dark or unfocused it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to kim[at]desiretoinspire[dot]net. Thanks!

Meet Scooter, an adorable west highland white terrier with notions of grandeur. He prefers to perch himself on a chair when overseeing his kingdom.

My pug’s name is Dr. Tobias Fünke (named after the character from Arrested Development) but I call him Fünke and we are from México City. The furniture he is in, is a old trunk I bought in a antique sale, I painted it, and added the wooden legs.

Here is Lewis, a friend’s 17 year old poodle, relaxing on the patio furniture in St. John’s NL on Canada Day in fine style.

1 – This is Sparky, my rescued Boston Terrier resting and relaxing on my new couch. I’m so happy that he approves of it. 🙂
2 – This is Sparky, my rescued Boston Terrier, resting on my olive green oversized couch in the living room where he loves to look out the window. 🙂

I work at 2MZ, a design studio in London, and am a regular devourer of your blog. We’ve just launched our new web site and it features my rescue terrier-cross Stanley posing amongst some of our chairs….not quite ‘on’, but I thought you might make an exception.

Some of you who have been around the blog a while may remember Desi, the cat I rescued about 2.5 years ago when my next door neighbour passed away within about a month of discovering he had cancer, and his family had taken all of his cats but one to the Humane Society (where I can only assume they were euthanized). Desi had escaped and Wanda from Hamilton, ON took her in. Wanda sent me some photos and I had to share. This was such a happy ending and she’s doing so well in her new home (and she’s chubby and so healthy looking!!). 🙂

And I thought I would share a couple of photos from the weekend in case you missed them on Instagram. I have pretty much unpacked and organized everything in the new house with the exception of knick knacks which I will get to eventually. My herd of cats took right away to their new home and have settled quite nicely, as you can see…
