Myrica Bergqvist update

Posted on Thu, 7 Aug 2014 by KiM

We have been fans of Stockholm-based interior stylist, decorator and  product designer Myrica Bergqvist for quite some time (see previous posts here, here and here). I was overjoyed to find lots of new work on her website and Tumblr and had a hard time narrowing down my favourites. So I didn’t. There is another post coming up. But first, I have to say how much I love the space above. I go a bit cuckoo for really large photography as artwork, and those chairs are so fun. Add a massive Tom Dixon Beat Stout pendant and I am SOLD.

Stalking above the bar

Posted on Thu, 7 Aug 2014 by midcenturyjo

I’m still stalking and this time I’m thinking of living above a bar. A whole corner building in Surry Hills, Sydney. Plenty of character. As close as one can get to the centre of all the action. Architect designed renovation. Funky and fabulous. Does it mean that I’m an old fuddy duddy that I’m more concerned about sound proofing between the bar and the apartment than excited at the prospect of being landlady to a bar just downstairs? Maybe I’ll just dream of living a hipster life here. Link here while it lasts.

And some shots of the space in its original incarnation from the architect’s site – Six Degrees.

Stalking a modernist gem

Posted on Thu, 7 Aug 2014 by midcenturyjo

One of Australia’s most significant post-war houses has been listed for auction and of course I’m stalking it. Boyd Baker House, was designed by one of Australia’s most significant Modernist architects, Robin Boyd in 1966. Since then it has had only two owners. Perhaps I could sell my soul to the devil to become the third. Maybe I can rob a bank before the auction at the end of the month. Perhaps I can just be content to stare at the pictures and wish its new owner well. Lucky sod. Link here while it lasts.

Loving these simple yet liveable and casual spaces by Sydney interior designer and decorator Kate Connors. I absolutely need the wall colour in this first bedroom somewhere in my home. Stunning!!

Larnie Nicolson

Happy hump day. 🙂 Enjoy some photography from the lovely Larnie Nicolson, New Zealand based photographer. She released a book, New Zealand Interior Style, in October 2013 – I’ve got to look that one up.
