Bureaux Limited

Posted on Tue, 2 Sep 2014 by KiM

Bureaux is the New Zealand architecture firm of Jessica Barter and Maggie Carroll. I featured one of their incredible projects here the other day. This post is a sample of the other residential projects under their belt – from rustic country home to modern renovations. It’s all good.

Hotel Casa Delina

Mauricio Guillen emailed us about his latest interior design project, and because I absolutely adore Mexico, this one gave me that warm and fuzzy feeling. Casa Delina is located in historic downtown Comitán, Chiapas (close to the Guatemalan border). The hotel is a home built in 1851 that has undergone some serious renovations to modernize it and provide all the necessities you need. It has eight rooms in which each one has its own decor theme, and each showcases art from artists located throughout the world. Its central courtyard and lush landscaping make this hotel SO appealing…and over the winter when planning my yearly trip to Puerto Vallarta, I might see if I can squeeze a trip in to stay here for a few days. 🙂

Calm

Posted on Tue, 2 Sep 2014 by midcenturyjo

Oh I need a little calm in my life at the moment. Frantic is the word that best describes my work load. I’d love a little zen like corner like this. I don’t think I’d sit here though. No I’d stand just where the photographer has and muse or perhaps I’d just smile slightly as I rushed past on my way to work! Found in the portfolio of photographer Romain Ricard.

Long Courtyard House

Posted on Tue, 2 Sep 2014 by midcenturyjo

A modern extension to an inner Sydney house sees contemporary concrete and timber “boxes” provide the owners with courtyard living as well as extra living space. Love the sliding walls that open the inside to the out as well as the second garden on the roof. Long Courtyard House by Scale Architecture.

Andrea Johnson Design

Vancouver interior designer Andrea Johnson is all about style and comfort, chic and elegant spaces that are fresh and timeless. The first thing I thought of when I began looking through her portfolio is ‘this is what sells houses’. Lovely.
