Benedicte, a photographer from Norway, had sent photos of her dogs for my Monday’s pets on furniture feature a couple of years ago (seen here) and I was smitten with the glimpse it gave into her home. She was going to send me photos of it but ended up having to move quickly. She is now in a new home and appears to have spent alot of time and effort into decorating it (interior design is another passion of hers, and it shows). The result is a beautiful, bright and graphic home with lots of charm and adorable vignettes everywhere. This needs to be in a magazine!

A simple modern family home with mid century riffs. Mono-pitch roof, walls of glass, colour blocks and sunken lounge. It’s about catching the sun and taking in the views. Sleeping zones at either end of the 4m wide building are connected by living areas that open to a sunny patio. Easterbrook House in Titirangi, Auckland by Dorrington Atcheson Architects.

If you would like to send me photos to include in next week’s pets on furniture post, please ensure your photos follow these basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. My miniature poodle Lola poses in front of the bookcase.

I snapped this photo with my phone last week while I was taking a break from the sofa (I was really sick for about 8 days straight). My spot was taken in merely minutes – by Milo, Felix and Mimin along the back. Best seat in the house I guess, especially when I warmed it up for them.
