A basement renovation

I unfortunately have never had the pleasure of renting/owning a home that didn’t have an unfinished and often really gross basement, so this project has me VERY EXCITED. H2 Design + Build converted a dark, dingy unfinished basement into a light filled family hub in the historic Seattle neighborhood of Capitol Hill. This seemingly ambitious project included the addition of a new staircase, mudroom, guest suite, kitchenette, family room, recreational room, and laundry room. The owners wanted it to feel like an extension of the rest of the house so they wanted high end details which work so SO well here. Now I want to redo my basement! I really like how you explained that converting your unfinished basement can become a very fun and exciting project. I agree with you that the fact you get to design it how you want it, makes it that much more special. I bought a house with an unfinished basement because it was cheaper. About how much money do I need saved up in order to finished the whole thing?

It can be common to find unfinished basements. I saw one house that had a damp, moldy one, so it can get gross sometimes. Renovating a basement into a retreat for the family would be fun, though. Since relaxation is the feeling I'm going for, I want comfortable, sectional couches and a game room down there one day.
