This six bedroom, 4 story Georgian home is for sale via The Modern House (for a hefty price) and was refurbished by the current owner in collaboration with Charles Tashima Architecture. I find it fascinating to see how an architect interprets the modernization of a period home. In this case I can’t think of another word aside from…random. But I think I like it, particularly the pitched glazed rooflight below that provides a link between the old and the new, and can be retracted almost entirely to open up the space to the outdoors.

i thought i'd pin every photo in this post after the amazing in-out dining room and eclectic kitchen with all that history and texture. but while i love the furnishings and old floors, the rooms themselves don't beckon my company. I guess I just saved eight million. Thanks ladies!

I had the opposite reaction: I found the furniture boring, but loved every single room. Amazing spaces, made to work so beautifully together.
