What do you get when you pair some really beautiful interiors with a Swedish photographer that is incredibly talented and captures light like I have never seen? The result are these stunning photos that have me completely mesmerized. Anders Bergstedt – thank you.
Oh! Oh! I want one! Rear Yard Art Pavilion by Gemmill Design. Who knew that such a thing could live at the bottom of a garden?
There is something about Australian Design at the moment. (Actually it’s been happening for quite a few years now but I shouldn’t boast.) Innovative, fresh, client driven and, well, frankly hot! It’s a simple house but the glimpses of what’s to come, the promise, through windows, down corridors, across courtyards entices you on into the house, leads you on while light streams in and vistas are framed. Have you entered the A’ Design Award and Competition yet? Nominate your design here. The deadline for entries is fast approaching and now is the time to submit your best work. With over 100 categories the A’ Design Award and Competition is the worlds’ largest design competition. But it is not just an award. It is an indicator of quality and perfection in design, recognized worldwide, your design front and centre before design companies and professionals.
From the Good Industrial Design Award to the Good Architecture Design Award. The Good Product Design Award to the Good Communication Design Award. The Good Service Design Award to the Good Fashion Design Award and so many more. (You can find all the design categories here.) With the competition highlighting, advertising & advocating good design, taking part will provide recognition, publicity and international peer review.
Entries will be judged by an international jury panel of scholars, professionals and media members. Unlike other awards the competition follows a peer-review process with anonymous voting and evaluation of all entries. And the benefits to the winners are inspiring! The trophy, of course, an invitation to the gala night, a certificate of quality, inclusion in the prestigious A’ Design Award and Competition exhibition and the yearly ResultBook but even more importantly press, PR, introduction to industry professionals and companies and international exposure. The fame, the prestige, the recognition and so much more.
You can find out more about the A’ Design Award and Competition here and register here. But hurry as entries close February 28. Results will be announced here on the blog (and worldwide) on April 15.
What could be more inspiring than the previous Platinum and Gold winners!

We have featured many lofts on the blog over the years, but this one may be the most sexy, classy one, whilst still maintaining some industrial touches. This dream renovation was executed by dhd architecture + interior design. The Crosby street loft building is located on a cobblestone block in the Soho Cast Iron Historic District. Built in 1882, it was formerly a department store, and converted in 2001 to a 10-unit loft condominium. Our renovation of a second floor loft retains and celebrates many of the original details, including generous, open spaces, 14 foot plus ceiling heights, Corinthian-style columns, and a continuous 120 foot exposed brick wall with integrated archways. Design features include a 12 foot tall glass lounge, two fireplaces, Control4 smart home system, a stone, cold-rolled steel and custom walnut cabinet kitchen and living room, and a luxurious master suite reminiscent of a 5-star hotel. Check out more of this firm’s work here.
