Classic style and colours

Posted on Tue, 15 Nov 2016 by KiM

Next to the definition of classic decor is a photo of Alabama interior designer Andrew Brown giving a thumbs up. This home is so elegant and sophisticated yes manages to be understated and even a bit masculine. In creamy whites and dark wood tones, it is really beautiful and so well curated. (More of his projects can be found here and here).

Stalking 2

Posted on Tue, 15 Nov 2016 by midcenturyjo

I’ve dragged myself away from the bright and airy Redfern apartment of the last post and now I’m stalking an old St. Johns Ambulance station in Camperdown, Sydney. The stylish conversion has created a unique home with exposed brick walls and light pouring in through an internal courtyard. What is it about warehouse and loft living that just does it for me? Check out the private studio apartment/garage at the rear. Such a clever idea. Link here while it lasts.

Stalking 1

I can’t believe how light, how airy this apartment is. Love the old industrial windows, the furniture, that piece of art hanging above the lovely white dining setting, the curves. The whole thing is a hip “cross between art gallery, industrial space, and home”. Add the fact that it’s in my fav inner-city Sydney suburb of Redfern and sometimes real estate stalking makes me very, very jealous. Link here while it lasts.

For the nineteen years I’ve had my dogs (greyhounds) I have not allowed them on furniture because their nails would shred upholstery and bed comforters when they made their “nest”. We knew that Miss Harri Berri would sneak up onto my bed in my absence because I would find my bed pillows and comforter “rearranged” (as documented in a photo taken by my housemate and sent to you for a previous Pets on Furniture post).  This is Tesla (my newly adopted greyhound girl, formerly known as “Fiat Experiment”) pictured on my leather sofa. After all these years, I gave in to this sweet new girl regarding the furniture…and she even sleeps with me now.  ;o)

Here is one from me: Phoebe on my Victorian embroidered grandfather chair with Bernie sleeping on the cat tree (that I typically drag out of the room whenever I take photos LOL)

Let’s talk about this room. Walls of white and all those windows. Light dancing across the floor. Green lamps playing against the greenery just outside. Love it. You can see more of this wonderful house by Annette English & Associates here.
