After surviving a record breaking heatwave in my part of the world I find myself dreaming of getaways that involve water, lots of water. Backwater “sits on a small promontory in a secluded lagoon in the Norfolk Broads and offers a contemporary counterpoint to more traditionally designed neighbouring houses, while respecting the peaceful natural setting.” Off the grid and may I say off the scale style-wise. I just want to lie staring at the ripples in the water as gentle breezes waft over me… and I can because Backwater, designed by London-based Platform 5 Architects, is a holiday let. Bliss.

The extreme heat wave Jo is referring to has affected much of eastern Australia, with areas of Sydney (where i live) experienced temperatures as high as 47 degrees Celsius. I don't remember temperatures ever being as high as this.

Johanna says:

Oh my God! This one stole my heart, outside and inside… After this I will be miserable person the rest of my life 🙂 knowing I will never get something like this, since the building regulations is Finland just don't allow to build to the immediately next to water.

Jocelyn says:

OH MY GOSH, I was in love from the first shot. I will say however, that (personally) I'd like it a weeeee bit less minimal inside, but my goodness the exterior of that home is just gorgeous!!

Alicja says:

love it! love it! love it!

ombia says:

Perfect. Like having holidays 24/7.
I hope that extreme heat wave won't kill many feral cats in your part of the world. Please live some water outside.
