Sometimes the beauty is in the simplicity. Pipkorn & Kilpatrick converted a tiny one bedroom house into a home for four in Fitzroy, Melbourne.

Hmm. Nice. But nothing special designer about it.

When you think of the former narrow, dark, warren of small spaces this home would have had I believe (unlike the former comment) that this house has been truly transformed. I say well done to the new owners of a light-filled and happy space to be in.

I like that a smaller place is shown. This little gem is a blank space waiting to be unified with the beautiful exterior with a few older beautiful furniture, colour. The kind of spaces I would have taken when I sold my house and scaled down three years ago.

It takes a lot of discipline to decorate in such a sparse way and let the architecture speak for itself (particularly over the fireplace — I'd feel compelled to add a mantle and a painting!). I like the result; particularly the roof deck and the dining area leading out to the patio. However, I'm left wondering where the two kids sleep?
