The narrative of the Sunset Bay Area Idea House grew through an embrace of the Northern Californian lifestyle that values fine art, craft, fresh produce, and nature. The curated interior features innovative materials & artisan finishes to promote warmth to the contemporary shell. The light oak floors and warm white walls provide a soft backdrop for rich wall coverings, custom millwork & newly introduced Heath tile to color the home. A William Morris print serves as a nontraditional kitchen backsplash and a metallic Brasscloth by Calico on the master bedroom ceiling subtly fades in tone, drawing your eye to the striking view of the San Francisco Bay. The design intention was to connect the Sunset Brand to the Geremia aesthetic, offering an opportunity to juxtapose accessible furnishings with curated pieces from our artisan friends and vintage resources. A number of Bay Area artists are represented through fine art, custom textiles, ceramics and process work direct from their studio. A beautiful home with beautiful views.

I didn’t get many photos in this week of the cats on furniture so this is all I’ve got. Feral Bernie lounging on my fur-covered Moooi carpet in the living room. And a side note: my Siamese foster Moss is doing well but I would reeeeeeally like to find him a home that is better suited to his personality (one with WAY less cats or none, and with someone home alot because he will become your shadow). Also, I visited my hair stylist’s farm on Saturday and he has a 4-6 week old kitten that was born in his barn and is destined to lead a shitty farm life and likely become feral if I don’t step in and find it a home. It is SUPER adorable and affectionate but unfortunately I didn’t manage to get a photo of it. So if anyone out there is looking to adopt a cat PLEASE contact me. I actually have dozens upon dozens of cats I can hook you up with and I guarantee I will find the perfect cat for you. πŸ™‚

Stalking a coach house in Sweden

Posted on Mon, 19 Jun 2017 by midcenturyjo

Today I’m stalking an old coach house just outside the medieval town of Landskrona in Sweden. Beautifully restored with polished concrete floors, exposed brick and old beams the 1850s house is complimented by a small but perfectly formed garden with flowering fruit tree, hammam and Japanese hot tub. I’m dreaming of late spring days spent with good friends and family, bees buzzing in the blossom and lunch just about to be served in the outdoor dining room. Link here while it lasts.

A dreamy Madrid home in gold and black

Posted on Sun, 18 Jun 2017 by KiM

I am unequivocally, unquestionably, undeniably in love with this home. An absolute dream in shades of gold and black, it is located in Madrid and owned by model Laura Ponte. It was featured in Architectural Digest Spain back in 2009 and is apparently now for sale. If I had the zillion dollars she’s asking for it, I would throw in another zillion and demand she leave all the furnishings…or at the very least those chandeliers in the dining room. SWOON!!!

Working on a Saturday

Posted on Sat, 17 Jun 2017 by midcenturyjo

I was almost going to call this one “Shopping on a Saturday” but, as wonderful as it would be to spend time in this store as a customer, can you imagine how fabulous it must be to work in such a beautiful space? As I always say, if you have to drag yourself into work on a weekend it helps if it’s somewhere stylish. Ulla Johnson boutique by Elizabeth Roberts Architecture and Design.
