Ghosts of sofas past. I’ve been having a funny old time lately, I feel like in the last 6 months I’ve grown up more than I have in the last 6 years, even though in theory I’ve been a grown up for a lot longer than that. Despite this, I still don’t feel like a grown up and at this point guess I never will 🤷‍♀️. Gut morgen. Day 4 of #myhousethismonth is my little haven. Overtaken – usually by over affectionate cats and fidgety twins; here is my retreat. Before I had kids I used to spend a lot of time in the bedroom, ohhh error, I hear you sniffer. Well obvs. There was ‘that’ 🍆too; but I really mean I would often prefer to retreat to my room in adulthood even though I had the rest of my home to relax in. Maybe am just an eternal teenager. Nowadays I read to the kids here and sleep (and the later has only been achieved in the past two years or so! ) Looking forward to having a browse through all your entries. Well because this evening I will be at the Aerende pop up shop, with founder Emily Mathieson, in Borough Market to discuss ethical interiors alongside @christinehanway, London editor of @remodelista. It’s about buying thoughtfully and knowledgeably from small places employing those who might otherwise not have jobs and from large ones who employ with care. Sometimes Odin poses like he’s ready to be painted like a bowl of fruit. Or maybe a 🍞, which we affectionately call him when his gut sits on display. I know I usually dish out plant tidbits, but did you know that floppy hanging belly you often see in cats is called a “primordial pouch”? Normal and totally handy in handling kicks, stretching and even storing excess food, though that’s less common in domesticated cats. You can’t really tell in the photos by Odin is actually a big guy, clocking 13 pounds inside a large frame. I can’t believe I missed #NationalCatDay yesterday!! My sweet fur babies have been around much longer than our girl, Georgia, but as any dog owner knows–pups steal the show.. Stella, Matisse and Sushi (our feral) are the sweetest babies and graciously allow Georgia to be the star in our house.. I’m truly a cat lady at heart–always had cats for like ever–5 at one point and am still convinced that they are so much easier and just a lil bit smarter than dogs. (I mean a cat would never chew and destroy a remote, right? Silly Georgia).
