Sydney sandstone

Posted on Mon, 4 Dec 2017 by midcenturyjo

Ease and elegance, sophistication and stylish simplicity. The hero of the landscape design is the sandstone, walls, steps, pavers, referencing the outcrops of this golden stone seen throughout the Sydney area. Central to all is the pool, a cool oasis in the inner city. Classical gives way to overgrown jungle as you climb the stairs to the upper level. Darling Point by William Dangar.

A home filled with art in Moscow

Posted on Sun, 3 Dec 2017 by KiM

This fabulously eclectic newly-built home filled with art is located in Moscow and was designed by Anna Erman. (Note: there are a couple of dead animals pictured for those who take offence). Lots of quirky art pieces are displayed throughout the home but my favourites are the chandeliers over the dining table (by Winnie Louis). Nothing floats my boat more than statement lighting! The lighting over the pool is also fabulous I must point out. Via Architectural Digest Russia, photos by Stephen Jouillard.

Fantastic Furniture

This time of year I always get a bit antsy with my decor and start thinking about making spaces over. If you’re based in Australia and you’ve got the decor itch, head over to Fantastic Furniture. They’re a great resource if you’re looking for budget-friendly furnishings, and they have a wide range of styles to choose from, on top of offering everything you could possibly need for your next project.

A modular sofa with chaise is a family-friendly, movie-night watching necessity. This is the Dakota 5-seater modualr chaise with storage.

Futons are awesome for compact spaces and great if you need a place for friends to crash. I love this Siesta 3 seater futon.

I’m shocked. This is a futon!! The Drift 3 seater futon with a cool scandi vibe. There are also several options for lounge sofas from Fantastic Furniture.

I’d love a new bed frame (as much as I appreciate husband having built our current one). This one is lovely! It’s the Willow queen bed frame in black.

My bedroom is TINY! Extra storage under the bed would be a dream! This is the Modena queen bed with storage. (I should note Fantastic Furniture sells mattresses too).

Fantastic Furniture is your one-stop shop for dining sets. This one is the Zoe 7-piece dining set with Zara chairs

Love this rustic scandi sort of style dining set. The Toronto 7-piece dining set with Parker chairs. Also digging the buffet in the background. Find it here

This set is really classy in this space. Love the green walls and the marble top on the table. Monaco 5-piece dining set.

I know I’m not the only one always lacking decent storage solutions. The Coda range could work in any room.

To finish a space off you must add some eye candy in the form of wall art. Fantastic Furniture has some great choices.

Working on a Saturday

Posted on Sat, 2 Dec 2017 by midcenturyjo

It’s my weekly mantra. If you have to drag yourself into work on a weekend it certainly helps if it’s somewhere stylish. Gwynne St Studio, a warehouse conversion by Biasol. I’d go just for the bathroom!

Opening up an old home

Posted on Fri, 1 Dec 2017 by KiM

When a home hasn’t been renovated since the 1950’s, you know you’re going to get small, dark, uninviting rooms and lots of unnecessary walls. Put a crew like Regan Baker Design on the project and you’ll end up with something that is now fabulous like this West Clay Park, San Francisco home. It blends the traditional architecture and historical details of the home with the homeowner’s contemporary, eclectic and tribal style that features unique artwork and collectables from Africa. And with the main living spaces now opened up there’s a clear view of the kids causing mischief. Also, lots of graphic, bold tile!
