Wind in the grass, ripples on the pond, kids splashing in the pool. Alfresco conversations, family gatherings, native wildlife paying a visit and the joy of an Australian garden that is more than a lawn and the latest “it” plants. Low maintenance, drought resistant, sustainable and beautiful. Musk Cottage garden in Flinders in country Victoria by Eckersley Garden Architecture.
I really love several design styles but modern is not typically one of them. South African interior designer John Jacob is bound to convert people like me with this black and white penthouse that is sleek, glamorous and super sexy. His attention to detail and use of bold artwork has really drawn me in.

From me: Semi-feral Frankie has recently discovered how comfy my Hana Waxman pillow I bought in Mexico (I had to cover it as it’s impossible to clean the cat fur off of it). And Milo also has great taste, laying on my blanket from Alteriors and some sheepskins.
I had to start at the back of this house where the kitchen is located because I am in loooove. My kitchen is about the size of this glorious marble-topped island, so to have all this space plus it fits a sofa and a dining table….*sigh*. I also really love the killer angled tile backsplash and one of my all-time favourite pendants lighting up the island (Lampe Gras). The rest of this location home in London is pretty sweet too. It’s Saturday and in between coffee dates with friends, grocery shopping and a few hours pottering in the garden I’ve been real estate stalking as I tend to do. I love to see what is waiting behind a firmly closed door or a conservative facade. Like this Federation era townhouse in the Melbourne suburb of Carlton North just a stone’s throw from the city centre. All Edwardian propriety on the outside. All light, bright, modern family fun on the inside. Fuschia pink kitchen anyone? Link here while it lasts.
