Here I go again getting all excited about a classic look done just a little differently, traditional decor with a twist, in this case in an old 1860’s in commercial building with exposed brick and crumbling plaster. It reminds me a little of a faded old palazzo, just not so grand, perhaps a bit more gritty and down to earth. There are a few things I would change but I love the idea of fine living in an unusual space, that unexpected twist. Industrial Redux in Mississippi by Barry Dixon.
Keeping my industrial loft obsession going strong is this absolutely incredible apartment on the top floor of a converted factory in the British town of Loughborough. I’m not sure what I’m dying over most – the exposed brick, the ceiling trestles, the collection of Togo sofas, the massive antique crystal chandeliers, allllllll those windows, the view, the copper bathtub, the marble sink…… OMG!!! Available as a location space via Shoot Factory.
I’m stalking one of the best streets in the Sydney suburb of Paddington but I’m not stalking its grand Victorian terrace houses. I’m stalking what at first glance is a small weatherboard cottage squeezed between its much bigger neighbours but appearances can be deceptive. Step through the unpretentious front door and a chic inner city home opens out before you. Just goes to show you definitely can’t judge a book by its cover. Link here while it lasts.
This absolute dream of an apartment is home to fashion designer Stefano Pilati and his wildly eclectic taste in decor. It is a garden duplex in a stately 19th-century building on an upscale commercial street in Paris. A renovation took place led by architect Bruno Caron and with the random assortment of colours, art and furnishings it is wonderfully intriguing. Loving this Denver, Colorado home from the outside in, renovated by architecture and construction firm Design Platform. I really love the simplicity of the exterior and all of the fabulous storage solutions of the interior. And well, every else about this.
