Stalking in Melbourne

Posted on Thu, 11 Oct 2018 by midcenturyjo

I’m stalking black and white with colourful art in South Melbourne. The renovation and extension to the period Victorian terrace house by Finnis architects retains the original heritage detailing while creating an understated tranquillity through a modern, minimalist touch. Link here while it lasts.

Queens Park House

What Alexander and Co said about this Sydney project:
“Queens Park House is the transformation of an existing 1900’s semi-detached cottage in Sydney. The project created a new 4-bedroom home whilst the material palette and architecture explored the use of steel detailing and various natural hues and textures. The internal styling, lighting and furniture responded to our client’s very particular ambitions.”

What I have to say about said property:
“Swoon!”

Black + blue + green in an architect’s home

Posted on Wed, 10 Oct 2018 by KiM

We are the biggest fans of Paris architecture firm double g so it comes as no surprise that I adore the home of Anne Geistdoerfer (one half of the firm alongside Flora de Gastines). All of the built in shelving blows my mind (2 posts in a row!), and the colour palette of black, blue and green is dramatic and really beautiful. (Details on the space can be found in this article)

Brooktree residence by Marmol Radziner

Posted on Wed, 10 Oct 2018 by KiM

California-based, multi-disciplinary firm Marmol Radziner was responsible for the architecture and interiors of this simple yet really beautiful home in Los Angeles. The main house of this Rustic Canyon residence sits between two single-story concrete block structures that contain a guest bedroom suite and an artist’s studio and garage. The positioning of the house at the exterior edge of the site optimizes natural light and backyard views of the surrounding oak canopy. I have to admit, I for some reason am totally blown away with how they designed the shelving on the side of the stairs that has the table integrated into it. Saved that to my inspiration folder!

Las 2 Mercedes

Las 2 Mercedes is a Madrid-based interior design studio founded in 2012 by Mercedes Peralta and Mercedes Valdenebro. Their work is all about warmth and timelessness, personality and pizzazz. Think a mix of contemporary design, mid-century furniture and antiques, understated, elegant and serene.
