Dreamy spaces in Canadian homes

Posted on Fri, 22 Feb 2019 by KiM

Canadian House & Home magazine is a favourite of mine and has been for as long as I can remember, so I find their website is a wonderful source for fabulously designed Canadian homes. I thought I would share some that have caught my eye recently.

Stripped bare beauty

Posted on Thu, 21 Feb 2019 by midcenturyjo

It’s like a beautiful woman stripped bare of makeup, in my eyes even more beautiful. This New York country house by Michael Dawkins Home has amazing bones but it’s simple colour palette of black and white, its exposed posts and beams as well as those lusciously naked floors that allow the carefully curated furniture pieces and objet to shine … or should that be subtlely glow.

Old meets new in this modern makeover of a classic Spanish Mission bungalow by Melbourne-based design firm Kennon.Studio. The arch motif, repeated throughout the house, references the house’s history but in a way that is modern and fresh. A tight colour palette of black and white allows graphic art works to pop. Decoration is stripped back, lines are clean and contemporary, but modern minimalism no way detracts from the house’s past. A perfect marriage.

Another look at Suduca & Merillou

I can’t get enough of the eclectic, European style of Daniel Suduca and Thierry Merillou of Suduca & Merillou. (See previous feature here). I thought I’d share some random photos from their portfolio that I just can’t get enough of. Mostly because of that photo above. Dying over the brown/olive wall with the unexpected addition of some teal.

Sharing some kitchen porn (among other awesome spaces) with you by Vancouver-based interior designer Tanya Krpan. If you’re in the market for a kitchen renovation, these are sooo inspiring. Such fabulous materials and attention to detail.
